I will always remember him as "Aticus" (Mon Jul 28, 2003 3:25am ET)report post
by Robyn Rachelle Gray
I was sitting in my living room, sunday night, watching the new show on cable, channel FX, "Nip/Tuck" and realized I went to the same high school as one of the main two actors, Dylan Walsh.
In 1981, Annandale High School, Annandale, Virginia, I was a Freshman at that time and one of my classes was Drama with Mrs. Summers as the teacher (the same teacher that mentored Mr. Walsh then a Junior).
There was to be a production coming up entitled "To Kill a Mockingbird" on November 21 that same year. A friend and I attended. The show was mesmirizing.
A talented actor was born. His name was Charlie Walsh at that time and he played the title role as Aticus, the same role as Gregory Peck in the movie version.
In my opinion, he succeeded marvelously. And would leave a lasting imprint. He is made of what I call old Hollywood. I love the Old Black & Whites.
I am thrilled with the theatre and am enveloped by great movies no matter there status in the industry.
I have seen Dylan (I so prefer Charlie) in a few other films but hadn't realized who he was until the movie "Congo". My friends told me that the actor known as Dylan Walsh was Charlie from high school.
I am not star struck by far, but it is truly wonderful to see that a fine actor has been abroad all these years and doing well for himself in a field he has dreamed of and worked in since the first time I saw him.
After the show back in 1981, I would see him in the hallways in school and would watch him walk on by with his then gal, Mary Floyd (also an actress then). A nice couple. I was too shy then to say my gratitude and missed the chance. So here it is after all this time, Charlie or Dylan.
Sometimes you think back to some of the people that made an impression.
I'm looking at my 1981 yearbook and can't believe it has been that long since.
Charlie, truly what an Inspiration.
I will always remember him as Aticus.
