Adam Arkin Biography (2)
He is now in his fifth season as Dr. Aaron Shutt on the critically-acclaimed CBS drama series Chicago Hope, for which received an Emmy nomination. His previous Emmy nomination was for Best Supporting Actor for his role as Adam, the sociopathic chef on Northern Exposure. Arkin also directed several episodes of both shows.
On his recent television hiatus, Arkin completed production on With Friends Like These, which premiered last September on Starz.
Arkin's television credits include the telefilms Not in This Town and In the Line of Duty: Hunt for Justice and the television series A Year in the Life, Big Wave Dave's, Busting Loose, Picket Fences, China Beach, L.A. Law, St. Elsewhere and Law & Order.
Arkin has also had starring roles in numerous feature films, including Wrestling Ernest Hemingway, The Doctor, Baseball, Personal Foul and Under the Rainbow.
In 1991, Arkin made his Broadway debut in I Hate Hamlet, a performance for which he received a Tony Award nomination. His other stage credits include the successful revival of Guys and Dolls on Broadway as well as Sight Unseen and Four Dogs and A Bone off-Broadway.
He also starred opposite Meryl Streep in the Wendy Wasserstein workshop of An American Daughter at the Seattle Repertory Theatre.
