Susan Egan
Born and raised in Long Beach, Calif., Egan trained as a dancer throughout her childhood. She later attended the Orange County High School of the Arts and UCLA, where she received a Carol Burnett Award for excellence in musical performance.
Most recently, Egan received outstanding reviews for her portrayal of Sally Bowles on Broadway in Sam Mendes' acclaimed revival of Cabaret. Also on the Great White Way, Egan has headlined as Princess Leonide in Triumph of Love and Margy in State Fair. She has starred alongside Carol Burnett in Sondheim's Putting it Together at Los Angeles' Mark Taper Forum, and played Kim MacAfee in the national tour revival of Bye, Bye, Birdie with Tommy Tune.
On the big screen, Egan appeared in Man of the Century, which garnered the Audience Award at the 1999 Sundance Film Festival, and in the independent Kiss and Tell. Her smokey voice can be heard as femme fatale Meg in the animated feature Hercules, and singing the role of Angel in Lady and the Tramp II.
Her television credits include primetime guest-starring roles on Party of Five, The Drew Carey Show, Almost Perfect, and Partners. She appeared in the television movies Men Don't Tell and Earth Angel, as well as PBS's Great Performances: Rodgers and Hart.
Egan's numerous musical recordings include Varese-Sarabande's Drat the Cat, Sondheim at the Movies, The Stephen Schwartz Album, Broadway Sings Bacharach, Peter Pan, Cinderella, Princesses Volumes I & II; the Broadway cast albums of Beauty and the Beast and Triumph of Love, and the motion picture soundtracks of Hercules and Lady and the Tramp II. Egan is releasing her first solo album So Far on the British label Jay Records in January.
Now living in Los Angeles, Calif., Egan spends her free time writing and walking Willa-the-Wonder-Dog.
