Worthless (Fri Dec 9, 2005 11:30pm ET)report post
by Steve-o
Hands down, bar none, one of the most worthless film makers on the planet. i have tried to get though "Two Girls and a Guy", "Black and White" and "When Will I Be Loved", but they were all so insultingly bad that I turned them all off after about 15 minutes. I do however, think the film "Bugsy" was well written. It just goes to show that you can build an entire career on any one fluke success. This guy's work is worthless. Absolutely worthless.

I had no idea hollywood puts out such garbage! Thank you Mr. Toback for giving a young filmmaker hope! I am also trying to be a sleazebag in hopes that I become a mediocre director.

Spy magazine once did an article about james tobacks park bench activities trying to pick up women. I'm surprised that he's still doing this. Can't imagine anyone falling for this sort of technique.

I knew it! (Mon Apr 4, 2005 7:39pm ET)report post
by Deirdre
I just met this loser for lunch. He talks about needing to know actresses to their fullest and entrusting him in every way. Uses some pathetic metaphor about being stuck on a desert island for thirty days with you... this fat balding pathetic excuse for a man is going back and forth between his dying mother on his cellphone and talking about his member. I dont care if this loser is the pope, a genius, or graduated from MENSA. NASA MIT or Harvard... cause this guy must still be tripping if he thinks he's so amazing that im gonna let him bring me to a hotel room. All i can say is, after watching him stuff two slices of cheesecake into his fat face.. i'd had enough of hearing him talk. this guy tells me he has over a hundred children and was forced to marry his wife when she was 14 cause her father flipped and threatened to press charges. This guy is the scum of the earth. Im all about exploration in films and insight into the psyche of what makes us tick, but after listening to this repulsive blob jabber on about his johnson and how he must have over a hundred children.... i lost respect for every actor that ever worked with him. And i dont care what any of your harvard lovin guys say about this "genius"... his films blow. its over- intellectualized dawson's creek dialogue, along with gratuitous nudity but nothing truly sensual. I'm afraid there is nothing new or exciting about a fat middle aged man... that is promiscious, uncaring, with a high "young girl" drive that will use his name to get girls to meet with him. Nothing new at all.

This jerk approached my girlfriend the other day ranting about how he would put her in his next film!
He was obviously full of it and after the stories i've heard about him, he sounds like the biggest loser in the world!
Get a life you pathetic excuse for a man! You're movies are
more terrrible than your cheesy pick-up lines. If i ever end up looking like this guy in the future, i'll put a bullet in my head.

The same thing happened to me. He approached me walking down the street and then gave me his number and said he really wanted to have lunch with me, and use me in a film. I had lunch but he made me feel uncomfortable so I left. I wonder how many girls he approaches per day? He must be a very busy guy.

Genious (Tue Mar 2, 2004 2:10pm ET)report post
by Harvard
James Toback is a genious. He is on a completely different level than anyone I can think of. He sees the world in such an interesting way and truly understands his own sexuality and the sexuality of others. Just because someone isn't afraid of the importance of sex and understands its aspects/influences in human nature does not mean he/she should be critisized or catergorized as someone to fear or look down on. James Toback is a good man and a brilliant director. Smile

This guy is one of the most talentless human beings i have have ever had the displeasure of having to watch on film. I just got through about 10 minutes of When Will I Be Loved thinking I'd give this loser another opportunity to put something on film that isn't improvised dogshit, but once again it was unwatchable. My only saving grace is that I 've never paid a dime to watch this garbage, it's always been on cable. The fact that any company invests in this loser as a writer/director/actor, or that anyone thinks he's a genius, just reaffirms how completely stupid most adults are. Absolutely pathetic.

yes, he is a genius. however, i was also approached by him and he offered to write a part for me. he said we would have to get to know each other very well in the next 24 hours. this definitely included things of a s*xual nature. i do believe he views the world in a very unique and honest way - but most women would not agree with his view and should know that his offer to write a role for you is simply not true. its simply not true! I don't believe he enjoys lying, but his imperative to explore feminine sexuality is so strong, he literally cannot help himself.

Beware of Contact (Sun Feb 15, 2004 7:30pm ET)report post
by Nicole Christianson
This is sort of addressed to Helene above:
I live in NYC, as does Toback. He once approached
a friend of mine on the street and eventually
offered to write her a part in one of his movies.
He made it pretty obvious to her that she would
have to sleep with him to get this role. He is
basically a very lecherous man who preys on young
attractive girls and tries to exploit their
naivety.

You may be upset that you never got this part,
but trust me, your husband isnt.

I'm so glad I found this page! J.T. stopped me on the street the other day, gave me his number, told me some of the movies he'd done, blah blah blah. At first I just laughed about it with my friends, but then after researching him on the internet, i thought, what the hell, i'll give him a call. He suggested meeting in the Harvard Club, so I thought, safe enough. When we did speak on the phone, he did a lot of name dropping and said how he would write a part for me if he decided that I was right for it after he got to know me. I was actually going to go! Now after reading this, I've confirmed my suspicions that he is indeed a sleaze and I'll have nothing to do with him!
Thanks!!

Contact (Sun Nov 16, 2003 5:45pm ET)report post
by Helene Helligsoe
Hello,

My name is Helene Helligsoe and I am Danish. I once met James Toback (1992) on a plane from Las Vegas to Los Angeles and he offered me a part in a movie.

I was on my way home to Denmark to get married to an american guy from California and I was at the same time not sure that he was in fact involved in movies, so I declined (typical Dainsh sceptisism). Too bad for me, as I have wondered ever since whether I did a mistake, as can see now that he exists.

Bring him my love - he was very kind to me when I met him on the plane and when we arrived to Los Angeles he was kind enough to drive me to the terminal from which I was leaving for Denmark.

Kind regards,

Helene Helligsoe
