| by Ashley Raizenberg I am a fan of Mr Phillip Noyce's Movies, espeacially Clear and Present Danger. My Great grandfather was the only White Chief of Zululand who came from Scotland to South Africa with his Dad Robert Dunn. My Great Grandfather was John Dunn son of Robert who grew up with the Zulus, entertained Lord Chelmsford and his Brittish troops, had 49 wifes and about 115 children and a school for his children. Charles Ballard an American Author wrote a book or two about John Dunn and i was wondering how come there wasn't a movie made about John Dunn. If you are interested you can read more on the History of my Great Grandfather on the internet under the title above. Hope to here from you soon, Ashley. Comment on this... |

| by MCP2012 (aka Clay) The title (of this post) says it all: THANKS so very much for making *RPF*. It should've at least been nominated in most or all of the major categories. Doyle's & Jone's respective camera-work were both absolutely perfect. Roger Ford did great production & costume design. The editing was crisp & efficient, boiling the remarkable story down to just a smidge over 90 mins. And you and Rachel Maza coached three of the most beautiful, adorable and talented girls the screen has seen in a long time. (And THANKS, Christine King, for your talent-scouting!! Everlyn Sampi should've at least been *nominated* for best actress, and precious little Tianna Sansbury for best supporting actress. Everlyn is both beautiful & talented beyond words! And the Monaghan girls were splendid as well. Dave Gulpilil--what else need one say? Perfect. And Ningali Lawford & her mom Myarn were perfectly-cast as well. Shame on the American Academy for not at least nominating the film in several categories. One query: You rehearsed the girls, according to the making-of documentary, as being transported aboard ship (consonant with the actual historical facts). Why the (last minute?) switch to the train thing? Just curious... BRAVO for a superb work of cinematic art! And THANKS! Comment on this... | ||||

| by Paulo Levy I was astonished to know about the rabbit proof fence in Australia whcih I didn't until I saw the movie. The film produced and directed by Phillip Noyce is an incredible story incredibly well told. Thanks to him many people can now know about that horrible passage in Australian history which, through his hands, comes to light for the world to see. Brilliant work and very touching. Best Regards, Paulo Levy BRAZIL Comment on this... |

| by acaptive Phillip saw you on " Today" Channel 9 program this morning 19th October 2004. Geezzzee what can I say. Bolt must have some real backing to try and persist to discredit RPF, two years on and the Liberal government is still backing the sun Herald writer to discredit you, those strong Aboriginal women and your film. As a lecturer (At one time your daughters an boy she gave me the once over about the film on the sly) and as an Aboriginal women I find this almost laughable two years on. This man is living in Lalalalala land. Has he never read the report from the Human Rights Commission here in Australia? How can he deny this report and its contents? (WWW.hreoc.gov.au/stolen.html . Has he even read Anna Habeich’s research into the WA experiences of Aboriginal children at places like Sister Kate’s. A.O Neville was a ‘devil’ read the government documents see the realities and he like so many others must stop trying to live in a sanitised history of denial and deceit remember who it is that controls the current media and why it is this debate still looms. Noyces biography has just been released by a German author – the boy from the bush who studied here in Australia and despite the omission of Australian history from his life growing up in Griffith, an education no doubt filled with untruths, stereotypes and racism, educated himself in social justice, went overseas and found a story he felt passionately about enough to come ‘home’ and make. The International audiences know so much more than those here in Australia. It about time Australians looked very carefully at their own history in their own backyards, more to the point .Andrew Bolt’s backyard as here is a man who commands a public voice but show little or no understanding of Australia’s hidden history ….perhaps he should get off his ass and meet a real ‘Aborigine’. To denounce their voices is just another ‘neocolonial’ tool media uses to discredit Aboriginal history’s validity. Comment on this... |
