| by jeangreyfan Whitney Saves Her Love For KL Sunday, December 2, 2007 KUALA LUMPUR: Multiple-award winning singer Whitney Houston lived up to her billing as the top draw in the Live & Loud concert here last night. Her appearance at the Bukit Kiara Equestrian Club here signalled the start of her comeback, and will be followed by a brand-new album next year. The 44-year-old pop diva, who came on after midnight, wowed a crowd of about 10,000 people, who were earlier entertained by a host of world-class singers at the event which started at 3pm yesterday. Houston showed the crowd just why she is a multi-platinum selling music legend, with songs like Saving All My Love and her evergreen hit I Will Always Love You. Clad in skin-tight leather pants, a flashy top and a white overcoat, the Grammy Award winner spiritedly pranced across the stage, starting off with the energetic If I Told You That. About an hour into her segment of the music fest, a young girl of about 10 – who Houston introduced as “my daughter” – stepped onto the stage and sang with her on My Love Is Your Love. Ahead of the pop queen, reggae-rap artiste Shaggy took the stage, getting the audience pumped up with his most-famous hits Angel and It Wasn’t Me. Earlier, American Idol crooner Elliot Yamin got the crowd eating out of his hand with his hit Wait For You and other songs from his self-titled debut album. Yesterday's event began with performances by international acts James Taylor Quartet and Project Pop and local performers Anuar Zain and Jaclyn Victor, among others. Comment on this... |

| by jeangreyfan Whitney Granted Divorce, Custody of Daughter Posted on April 5, 2007 11:18 AM Tears of joy flowed as Whitney Houston won her custody battle against soon-to-be ex Bobby Brown on Wednesday in an Orange County court. A judge ruled that Whit gets sole custody of 14-year-old Bobbi Kristina, after testifying in court that Brown is an unreliable father, TMZ.com reports. In addition, the judge granted Houston a divorce, and her 14 year marriage to Brown will officially be history on April 24. While Whitney avoided the camera crush post hearing, Brown’s attorney said he will seek to overturn the ruling. Comment on this... |

| by jeangreyfan Whitney Houston Starts Work on New Album Today Tuesday, March 13, 2007 By Roger Friedman Whitney Houston begins in earnest to record her comeback album today. Houston, who's been in rehab for about a year in Southern California, is about to make the tentative steps toward reclaiming her once-flourishing career. The first step is venturing into a recording studio with superstar writer-producer Johnta Austin — pronounced "Jon-tay." Austin won a Grammy for co-writing Mariah Carey's hit "We Belong Together." The hope is that he can work his magic again with Houston. I already told you in this space about a month ago that music mogul Clive Davis has already settled on roughly seven songs for Houston, including those by R. Kelly, Diane Warren and other big-name producers. Another name in the hat: a writer called Fernando. One song Houston might try: Julia Fordham's "Angel Without Wings." In any case, until someone hears her sing, no one will know for sure if continued drug abuse and smoking has harmed Houston's famed voice. To that end, I hear she's been working with a good vocal coach. Stay tuned. SOURCE: http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,258421,00.html Whitney Houston Begins Work On Comeback Album LOS ANGELES (March 13, 2007) -- Whitney Houston fans won't hurt anymore thanks to news that from today, the singer is working "in earnest" to record her comeback record, FoxNews columnist Roger Friedman reports. Friedman says Whitney will be working in studio with songwriter/producer Johnta Austin. Austin previously co-wrote "Be Without You" with Mary J. Blige and "We Belong Together" with Mariah Carey. Clive Davis has reportedly selected seven songs from writers including Diane Warren whose credits include "How Do I Live" and "Can't Fight The Moonlight." R. Kelly and a songwriter known as Fernando also have tracks tentatively set to be laid down for the impending release. Whitney's comeback record is expected out this fall. It will be her first artist album in four years. After several years out of the spotlight, Houston made her return to the public forum in October of last year on the arm of Davis at the Carousel of Hope Ball in New York City. "We're working hard," Davis told Access Hollywood at the time. "We're looking for material and we've just gotten a beautiful song from R. Kelly so we're on our way." Davis said once the record was in Whitney's hands, it would be unstoppable. "You, in effect give Whitney an album and you let her do what she does better than anyone," he said. One of the biggest female artists ever, Whitney Houston's comeback is highly anticipated all the way from AccessHollywood.com readers to the Hollywood community. "I think the public is going to welcome Whitney back with open arms," fellow music legend Barry Manilow previously told Access. Formerly beleaguered superdiva Whitney Houston graced an LA recording studio yesterday to begin work on her first record in five years. She was accompanied by songwriter Johnta Austin, who's no stranger to penning anthems for R&B goddesses - he wrote "We Belong Together" for Mariah Carey, "Miss You" for Aaliyah, and "Just Be a Man About It" for Toni Braxton, among others. BMG mogul Clive Davis is cosigning Houston's comeback and helping her choose songwriters - so far seven tracks have been picked up, from scribes including R. Kelly, John Legend, Ne-Yo, and Diane Warren. Could be a hit. SOURCE: http://www.vibe.com/news/news_headlines/2007/03/whitney_got_her_mojo_back/ Comment on this... |

| by jeangreyfan HOLLYWEIRD Sept. 22, 2006 | 12:10 p.m. ET Hollyweird Week In Review Paris had a relatively quiet week in Hollyweird. So in case you missed it from leprechauns to Courtney Love interventions, here is a quick reminder why celebrities aren’t like you and me. Oprah doesn’t find it flattering that someone wants her to run for President of The United States. She sued the guy behind the Oprah 2008 movement. Maybe she just feels out of touch. After all, she started her new season by proclaiming to America she hadn’t pumped gas since 1983. I wonder if she had sticker shock. Joe Simpson, father to Jessica and Ashlee continues to find ways to cash in on his daughters, reportedly selling pictures to the paparazzi and opening a restaurant chain called Daisy Dukes. Oh, and don’t forget stars collided this week when reports surfaced Paramount wants Brad Pitt to take Tom Cruise’s Mission Impossible. I’m sure Tom’s not worried. Katie Holmes as a Spice Girl is sure to be a big box office hit. England’s Star reporting he and Katie are working with David and Victoria Beckham to make a movie based on the life and times of Posh and Becks. Whitney Houston was lucky enough to get a little help from her good friend Courtney Love. And speaking of luck, won’t we all be lucky if Michael Jackson actually opens his leprechaun theme park. Just another week in Hollyweird, folks. SOURCE: http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/6330851/ Comment on this... |

| by jeangreyfan Shaping Whitney’s Comeback By RICHARD L. ELDREDGE Thursday, September 21, 2006, 03:12 AM The Atlanta Journal-Constitution The carefully crafted reintroduction of Whitney Houston Davis conceded that the singer is not, as initially rumored, ready to go solo at next month’s Carousel Ball of Hope in Beverly Hills, but she “would accompany me.” Davis is hoping to relaunch the singer’s comeback at his prestigious Grammy party next year. “It is too early to say if Whitney is going to perform, but I would hope she would be in the running,” says Davis. “She looks radiant and is clearly together.” And of those pesky rumors that Houston has suffered the loss of some of her magnificent vocal range, Davis said, “She is talking enthusiastically and is articulate. We are going to make a great album.” This month, Houston filed for separation in Orange County, Calif., from Atlanta hubby Bobby Brown. SOURCE: http://www.accessatlanta.com/blogs/content...itne.html?imw=Y NEWSMAKERS September 22, 2006 Dr. Phil Gets Real For Oakland Mall Crowd That strange feeling that came over you Thursday, the one nagging at you to "Get real!" while you went about your day, can be attributed to the fact that TV's Dr. Phil McGraw was in our midst. The good doctor appeared at Oakland Mall Thursday afternoon to help spread the word about his show's move to Channel 62 in Detroit, and several hundred fans -- many sporting T-shirts pledging their allegiance to Dr. Phil -- showed up to hear him speak. Sadly, during his visit McGraw was not able to talk sense into the group of Detroiters who need him the most: The Lions. Maybe next time. Sorvino Urges Congress For Action In Darfur Actress Mira Sorvino , who won an Oscar for "Mighty Aphrodite" and has done little of consequence since, spoke to Congress Wednesday urging a swift resolution to the conflict in Darfur. "We stand at a crucial crossroads in the Darfur crisis," Sorvino said, People reports. "The U.N. peacekeeping troops must be allowed to take over the mission as planned in October. Until that point, the African Union troops must remain and the U.S. should take a leadership role in supplying them and supporting their infrastructure." Congress members replied, "Um, who are you, again?" Whitney Houston Finds Unlikely Kindred Spirit As if Whitney Houston and Bobby Brown aren't volatile enough on their own, the new issue of Us Weekly reports Houston has become close friends with trainwreck rocker Courtney Love . But it's not what you think: Love reportedly encouraged Houston to get clean after the National Enquirer ran its "Inside Whitney's Drug Den!" article earlier this year, and even referred Houston to her L.A.-based addiction counselor, Warren Boyd . Just to review: When Courtney Love is the voice of reason in your life, you know something's off. Also… WRIF-FM (101.1) copped a load of awards at Wednesday's Radio and Records convention in Dallas. In the active rock category, Drew & Mike won for "personality/show of the year," Doug Podell won "program director/operations director of the year," and WRIF won "station of the year." Seth Meyers will join Amy Poehler behind the desk of "Weekend Update" this season on "SNL," Entertainment Weekly reports. Why is it that we're already feeling nostalgic for Jimmy Fallon and Tina Fey ? Clive Davis tells Page Six he thinks Aretha Franklin and Whitney Houston are the two best singers in the world today. "That's not to knock Mariah Carey ," he says. Prosecutors charged actor Lou Diamond Phillips on Thursday with domestic battery in connection with an incident last month involving his live-in girlfriend. Phillips, best known for his roles in "La Bamba" and "Stand and Deliver," could face one year in jail and a $2,000 fine if convicted.
