Bernie Mac Biography (2)
Following Head of State, Mac will co-star with Drew Barrymore, Cameron Diaz and Lucy Liu in the much-anticipated sequel Charlie's Angels 2: Full Throttle, in which he takes over the role of Bosley, actually Bosley's brother, the liaison between the Angels and their mysterious employer. Later this year, he will appear in the comedy Bad Santa, in which he stars with Billy Bob Thornton, and he also lends his voice to the animated feature Lil' Pimp.
Mac was most recently seen in Steven Soderbergh's hit remake of Ocean's 11, alongside George Clooney, Brad Pitt and Matt Damon. He was a founding member of the Kings of Comedy tour, which showcased Mac's trademark rapid-fire delivery and incisive wit that helped make the show such a monumental hit. The success of the tour spawned Spike Lee's widely acclaimed concert film The Original Kings of Comedy.
Born and raised in Chicago, Mac made his television debut on the landmark HBO comedy series Russell Simmons' Def Comedy Jam. That led to him being cast in the Damon Wayans feature Mo' Money, marking his feature film debut. In addition to acting and performing, Mac wrote a book entitled I Ain't Scared of You: Bernie Mac on How Life Is, which was published last fall by MTV/Pocket Books.
