Perry's television credits include roles on the series Chicago Hope and Brooklyn Bridge. He has also appeared on L.A. Law and My So-Called Life, and in the television films The Heartland and Casualties of Love. His feature film credits include Body of Evidence, Storyville, and The Grifters.
Perry is a founding member of Chicago's Steppenwolf Theater, and twice served as its artistic director. He has appeared with the company in a number of productions including Little Egypt, Educating Rita, The Homecoming, and The Hothouse.
