I thought that George C. Scott played in a weekly series (in the evenings) in the late 1980's or real early in the 90's when I was a kid. It seems that maybe he played the president or something like that. Can anyone tell me if he did and what the name of the show was?

I have looked all over too for the movie, but to no avail. I finally went to the Hallmark movie listings from 1950 to date and it is listed, but is not available. All the ones they have available are listed with a v or dvd by them. I remember watching that movie and thought it was wonderful. I am sad it cannot be purchased.

I have been looking for a live-action version of Beauty and the Beast that my grandmother recorded off of tv for me. I still have it but my sister once used the tape to record an episode of some soap opera or other. I am still mad at her for this. I don't know if the version I'm looking for is the George C Scott version or the John Savage version.

The one I'm looking for starts with her father asking her and her sisters what they want him to bring back for them. Belle asks for a rose and I recall one of her sisters wants an expensive dress. All of her father's ships crash and he loses their fortune so the only gift he is able to get is the rose for Belle, but in getting it, he angers the Beast. I remember that there is a lovely scene where several statues come to life and dance for her. Is this the version I'm looking for?

I would love to have a nice copy of this movie, please! Does anyone know where I can pick one up? I can't believe Hallmark doesn't sell this on their web site, it is the best version of this story!

It isn't clear from these posts if anyone ever actually got a copy of the tape or the dvd. I have a VHS recording of the original broadcast from 1976. Unfortunately recorded in LP mode, but quite viewable nevertheless. Is anyone interested in a copy?

I too am looking for a copy of this movie. It's been the one that I most remember and I happen to believe there's never been a more endearing "Beast" (except for the Disney cartoon)
