| by Mark Attractive and engaging, Eric CLose has been around awhile and is gradually moving into second banana status...and that's a shame. Failed TV series after failed TV series, along with serviceable performances in other lackluster TV fare have placed him today in supporting roles which usually are a case of diminishing return career-wise. Close's blond, square-jawed good looks will soon be seen in newer, younger versions and perhaps now is the time for a new agent who can find him more complex roles that can showcase a broader acting range than we have seen so far. To date, most of Close's roles have relied heavily on his safe, white-bread physical attractiveness and have played that way as well....nice and safe. Conversely, Close's performances frequently suggest that there's more going on beneath his good looking exterior and he fast needs to get roles that tap into that - otherwise he will wind up as the next generation's Bruce Boxleitner...another once promising, good looking actor whose acting choices have long since relegated him to the familiar face on TV but little else. Step outside your comfort zone Eric - you can do it! Comment on this... |
