Born to parents Olive and George Osmond, Donny was half of the brother-sister act Donny and Marie. He is the brother of Alan Osmond, Jay Osmond, Jimmy Osmond, Merrill Osmond, Wayne Osmond, Marie Osmond, Tom Osmond and Virl Osmond. The two oldest children, Tom and Virl, were hearing-impaired; Alan, Jay, Merrill, Wayne, and Donny started a singing group which became famous as The Osmond Brothers. Donny became a teen idol in the early 1970s. The youngest child, Jimmy, later joined the group. Marie, the second-youngest child (younger than Donny, older than Jimmy), established a music career of her own, and co-hosted a television variety show with Donny.
Married since 1978 to Debra Glenn, Donny has had a diverse career.
The family are members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
