| by gina This sunday at 8am (EST) on A&E's Breakfast with the Arts: MICHAEL McKEAN / KATHLEEN MARSHALL / THE PAJAMA GAME He first conquered the small screen as Lenny in “Laverne & Shirley”, following that up with roles in such big screen classics as “This Is Spinal Tap”, “Best in Show” and “A Mighty Wind”. Along the way he’s picked up a Grammy award and an Oscar nomination and spent six months exploring his feminine side as Edna in “Hairspray”. Now he’s back on Broadway, in trousers, costarring in the hit revival of “The Pajama Game.” Also appearing are Kathleen Marshall, the show’s director and choreographer and the “Steam Heat” dancers. | by Caitlin hey, hi im 14 and im totally in love with michael mckean he is so sexy even though hes 58 (lol oh well) and i have been trying so hard to try and find some way to contact him. but anyways i love his role as Lenny on Laverne and Shirley and all of the other movie roles he was in such as Final Justice and Man trouble! i think that he is such a great actor that he is in my TIVO and it records everything he is in lol!!!i think that he is a great actor, singer, and song writer. | by Sally Both he and wife Annette O'Toole are going to sing at an upcoming benefit for MCC Theater in NYC. The performance is called "Miscast" and includes lots of Broadway stars who will all be performing showtunes they would not normally sing (i.e. Kristin Chenoweth playing Tevye from Fiddler on the Roof). I like when he plays the lawyer in the simpson case a with mike myers as Judge Ito a lot.also with Janeane Garofalo in it/Also Marisa Tomei as miss Vito the car plate witness.I like when he does the home headache test skit with Janeane Garofalo/Kevin Nealon.I like when michael mckeans in the welcome back kotter skit with Janeane Garofalo/mike myers.along with John Travolta/David spade as horshack/Adam Sandler as Epstein.I liked when michael mckeans next to Sarah Jessica parker,Janeane Garofalo.Chris Elliott,Ellen cleghorne,Laura kightlinger Comment on this... |

| by Kathryn Fenner While the blonde wig of Spinal Tap caught my eye years back, it is in the Guest films that Mr. McKean's talents really shine! (BTW, Diane, Guest and Shearer call him "Michael" in the commentary on the Criterion DVD of Spinal Tap, and Guest also refers to him as Michael on the commentary in Best In Show.) I am curious about his educational background: I read that he went to Carnegie-Mellon w/ Shearer and NYU w/ Guest. What did he study: acting? What is his musical training? He is obviously an accomplished guitarist. His lyrics are certainly many cuts above the norm in the opinion of this English major. Where did he grow up? His accent is much more middle America than Chris Guest's which sounds very "grew up in Manhattan." He seems to be such a smart, funny, yet nice guy on the TIST commentary and in interviews. I wish there were more information out there, but .... An adoring fan who is old enough to know better Comment on this... |
