Biography #2 (for Comic Book Villains)

Cary Elwes continues to impress critics and fans alike with his wide array of roles in which he demonstrates his distinct style, talent and versatility. Most recently, Elwes was seen with Willem Dafoe and John Malkovich in Lions Gate's Gold Globe nominated Shadow of the Vampire, a captivating and darkly comedic fictionalization of film history based around the filming of the 1922 classic Nosferatu. Elwes also recently performed in director Tim Robbins' The Cradle Will Rock, with Emily Watson, John Turturro, Vanessa Redgrave, Susan Sarandon and Phillip Baker Hall.

Elwes made his film debut in Marek Kanievska's Another Country. Based on that performance, Elwes was chosen by the Director of The Royal Shakespeare Company, Trevor Nunn, to star opposite Helena Bonham-Carter in the highly acclaimed historical epic Lady Jane. Next, Elwes was cast by Rob Reiner to star opposite Robin Wright in the classic Princess Bride. Ed Zwick's Academy Award-winning Glory quickly followed, in which Elwes performed with Denzel Washington, Morgan Freeman and Matthew Broderick. He has also appeared in the blockbusters Twister, with Helen Hunt; Liar, Liar, with Jim Carrey and the suspense thriller Kiss The Girls, with Morgan Freeman and Ashley Judd.

Other film credits include Francis Ford Coppola's Academy Award winning thriller Bram Stoker's Dracula, Robin Hood: Men In Tights, Hot Shots, Tony Scott's Days of Thunder, The Crush and Rudyard Kipling's The Jungle Book. Additionally, Elwes appeared as famed Apollo 11 astronaut Michael Collins in HBO's critically acclaimed mini-series From The Earth To The Moon, produced by Tom Hanks.

Elwes will soon been seen in the Lions Gate's drama Cat's Meow, opposite Kirsten Dunst, as well as the NBC mini-series Uprising, starring Jon Voight, and an episode of Fox's anthology series Night Visions..

Cary Elwes most recently appeared in the critically acclaimed NBC mini-series Uprising, opposite Jon Voight and Leelee Sobieski, and starred in Lions Gate's dramatic thriller The Cat's Meow opposite Kirsten Dunst. He will next be seen starring in Miramax's Ella Enchanted opposite Anne Hathaway.
