Brian Dennehy is a national tresure. His roles span decades of work. His flexibility, range and character acting is superb. I have and will always enjoy his fine talents and abilities. May you live a long time Mr. Dennehy. You are appreciated.

Brian the phony (Sun Jan 23, 2005 4:05am ET)report post

Personally while I once regarded Mr. Dennehy as a fair B grade actor, I find it difficult to watch him nowadays. This all stems from having learned that in years past he has passed himself off as a Viet Nam Veteran who experianced combat. A book entitled Stolen Valor exposed him and he had to fess up to his lie. The author of the book obtained Brian D's military record from the govt and was able to show that he was full of it. Pretty funny actually. Before the book was published Brian D appartently wrote a letter to the author BEGGING him to leave his name out of the book. Sort of tells me a lot about the guy.

I think to compare Clinton's actions to Dennehy's actions is like trying to compare dogs and trees. Thousands of young men died or were physically or mentally maimed in Vietnam. Those who fought there should feel a sense of pride and Americans owe them a huge debt. Mr Dennehy should be ashamed of himself lying about his involvement.
No one died fighting for Monica Lewinsky's honour!!

Like other famous people haven't lied and gone on with there lives just like nothing happened? What about Clinton?? Liked you've never lied about some things. Everyone lies about things in there lives that they don't want other people to know about. That's fine if you don't want to watch him but don't criticize someone who is doing a good job at what they do just because of one lie in there lives. Keep up the good work Brian. You are one of my favorities and I enjoy all your work. You were born under the same sign as my late husband and I know you are a wonderful person.

Brian Dennehy Fan (Thu Sep 23, 2004 3:59pm ET)report post

I have been a fan of Brian's for a very long time. He is one of the best actors I have seen in films and almost always pick movies because of himself starring in them.
This may sound silly, but I actually have two pictures of himself posted at my desk at work. One I purchased off "ebay" and one I just printed off(the girls at work often bug me about them.)
I have always wanted to meet him in person and if given the opportunity would jump at it.

Mr. Dennehy's work is always super. He did an outstanding job in the classic movie, NEVER CRY WOLF. Unfortunately, Kevin Costner copied the story for DANCES WITH WOLVES and NEVER CRY WOLF, the better film, never became as famous.
