by Movie Lover I saw King Arthur and it was everything the critics said: a cheap Gladiator knock-off, with a poor script, laughable heroes and villains and no point to it. Having said that, I must admit I'm not sorry I saw it because of his Brittanic Majesty, Clive Owen. He was trully good in it and he did come across as this man who's torn between his ideals and the realities of the world, forced to make a choice that will affect the future of a whole nation. A man who's no coward but dislikes war, loyal to his country, his friends. A religious, honourable and passionate man, who understood the politics of his time. The actors who played the knights were also a treat, especially Ray Winstone as Bors. One thing was disturbing, though: there was no chemistry whatsoever between Clive and Keira Knightley and their love scene was very, very awkward. I would have thought they were miscast opposite each other except for the fact that I've seen it happen before, e.g. in Beyond Borders. You were left with the impression that Clive Owen wouldn't shag Angelina Jolie to save his life - and this was no different! Maybe they should think twice before choosing a consort for his Royal Highness next time.

| by ps Ahhh Movie Lover - we meet again! I see we have the same good taste I agree with your comment completely, especially the part about Keira Knightley. They could've gotten someone better for Guinevere. Owen has a lot of talent. If you haven't seen Croupier, watch it. It's another example of his great acting abilities.

| by Movie Lover Glad my tastes coincide with yours, ps. I'd like to talk more about movies with you, and/or other things we're maybe both interested in.
So, drop a line.
For the record: I own all of Clive's movies on DVD ( even the TV films or serials ). And isn't he tasty in his birthday suit in Close My Eyes?

Thank God for Peter O' Toole, Brian Cox, Eric Bana and Sean Bean or he would have ruined TROY completely, too!

by Marina Gabriel I first saw Clive Owen in Croupier and I had no idea who he was.Well, I know now! I managed to see all his movies and I've actually bought most of them and I love watching them over and over. He's an incredible actor! I saw King Arthur and he was terrific in it but Croupier was and remains my favourite to date. Now he's becoming more and more famous, all the major leading ladies in hollywood are stepping all over one another to play alongside him (Angelina Jolie, Kiera Knightley, Julia Roberts, Jennifer Aniston etc) and I can't say I blame them. He's seriously attractive, with none of that pretty-boy hollywood crap. I plan to see all his upcoming movies, of course, but I admit I'm going to have a truly hard time seeing him next to that home-wrecker Roberts or that absolute dog, Aniston.

| by SHAUNA None of the hollywood pretty boy crap is right! Tall, masculine, elegant, overtly strong but with depth of feeling, a sweet smile and an intense stare, deep husky voice and darling little moles on the mouth, neck and back, the man who drives you crazy doing absolutely nothing! He remains dispassionate while you groan to have him and that's - I guess - part of the charm. A minimalist actor who hasn't yet been dubbed "a star" because he's nothing like a hollywood pretty boy. Who needs another Brad Pitt, anyway? We didn't even need the first one! Clive, I'd love to have your babies!

| by Marina Get in line, girlfriend! And there's that little matter of him being - happily? - married. The good ones are always taken, aren't they?
