| by Donald Murrell I remember a TV special with Miss Bancroft in the late 1960's or early 1970's which was a knock out appearance for this wonderful actress. I believe it may have won an Emmy or at least nominated for the honor. How may one obtain a DVD of this memorable show. Comment on this... |

| by Michael Thompson To see this 20th century Italian Bronx actress play a turn of the century Irish blind immigrant floors me. It's kind of exaggerated by today's standards, we're always looking for the ordinary these days especially in our actors. Anne Bancroft could have made a good living on The Graduate if it had been her only work. In many ways she'll always be known as "Mrs. Robinson". But the Miracle Worker was something hard earned. On stage and on film. The idea of what is thought as the primitave, (intellectually and culturally) can in such majesty reveal the human spirit and trancend our heavenly and earthly expectations depicted in someone like Helen Keller, particually in her time and place, is a lesson for our troops in Iraq and those who feel beauty is a nip and tuck. Anne no matter how lousy the script, keep acting till your kicking dust. Sincerely, Michael T. Comment on this... |
