Sasha Mitchell was born on July 27 in Los Angeles, CA, and was raised in southern California while spending his summers in New York City. Best known for his critically-acclaimed role as Spike in the feature film Spike of Bensonhurst, Mitchell portrays the manipulative James Richard Beaumont, the supposed son of the only woman to ever break J.R. Ewing's (series star Larry Hagman) heart, Vanessa Beaumont (recurring guest star Gayle Hunnicut).
Mitchell, who modeled exclusively for a year with famed fashion photographer Bruce Weber, studied acting in New York City at the National Improvisational Theatre. In 1987, he made his television debut in the telefilm Pleasures and also landed a feature role in the motion picture Death Before Dishonor during the same year. He has also guest-starred on the television series Rags to Riches and starred in the Disney Channel telefilm Not Quite Human.
Mitchell, who lives in California's San Fernando Valley, continues a longtime family tradition of growing banzai trees in his spare time. He also is an avid motorcycle enthusiast, building and collecting Harley Davidsons.
