I agree Bruce Lee is a great fighter, because he trained very hard, and he is intelligent and confident. But i am not sure if he is really the best martial artist ever, i know he have good physique, but doesn't mean he is the best martial artist ever. There may be someone who comes along in the next 40 to 50 years, that person might as well be better than Bruce Lee. But its unlikely this will happen and it would be very rare for it to happen.

Bruce not so Legend (Sun Nov 14, 2004 9:54am ET)report post
by Jui Khan
Bruce is a big head, and yes, he might have had to carry it about in a wheel barrow, but he is only a majour legend because he died, 'supposedly' of over-training. Please. I beleive if he was still alive, he was be booming rich yes, but only as/less than Jackie Chan. Lets face it, Jackie has created much better gross income movies, and many of Bruces were only later successful because he was dead. If he was alive he would be just like Jackie Chan, old and nearing the end of his movie life. Jackie will still be making good movies one day, his JC stunt team creates the best fight scenes and coreography, Bruce's fights on film were terrible, and relied on the "Presence" of bruce and other big fighters. What can Bruce do that no one else can? Nothing. Some of you may say "The one inch punch of course!", Many more impressive stunts have been shown on film by many other marital artists and stuntmen. Okay next point, Bruce Lee has been in real fights, and real life/death situations, has Jackie Chan? Probably not, besides his stunts, but other martial artists have. Ken Lo, the Tae Kwon Do martial artitst once killed a knife expert while he was in the military, Benny the Jet is a real kick boxing champion, and has better fight scenes, Tony Jaa the Muay Thai fighter from Ong-Bak has real fights in his 2003 movie! Bruce is out numbered/skilled in many other categories, but his legend is fueled by his massive ego, smart/cool-sounding philosophy, and death.

Well, I think Tony Jaa (phanom eerum) is a great fighter

but I don't think bruce lee is just famous for his death.

he didn't die of over training, he died of chemical

reaction in his brain when he took the painkiller.

he was a real fighter, learned tae kwon do, wing tsun,

and his kicks are really well balanced.

his kicks were so fast that he had to slow down because camera couldn't catch his move.

Muhammad Ali learned from Bruce( he didn't train him )

He trained Dan inosanto, Kareem abdul-jabbar, and many many famous stuntman, and actors.

he was skinny, yes. but his punch was strong as Mike Tison.( a little bit less.)

when he tought JKD, He tought them with real moves that are used in fights, such as boxing punches and
TKD kicks.

what I'm tryin 2 say is that he wasn't famous just because of his death, and he was a great martial artist and a fighter. (Of course, I'm positive that there is some one greater than him. because there's always someone better than you.)

Cambece learned from bruce (Fri Dec 9, 2005 3:28pm ET)report post

Bruce was the man; I learned to fight from his book. And I ended up using it to show up some new karate schools in town. I went to 3 of the new school that for some reason all open with-in a month of each other and I took the trial course and showed them what I could do before they taught me. They were impressed, but wanted my money.

looking for a movie (Sun Dec 14, 2003 7:23pm ET)report post
by Angellady
Hello,

I've a question and I hope somebody can help me. I saw a long time ago a movie of Bruce Lee. I liked this movie very much but I don't know the title of this movie. The only thing I know about the movie is that it ends with Bruce Lee fighting with a girl. To defeat the girl he had to make her blind. Does anybody knows how this movie is named.

Thanks in advance.

JKD Philosophy (Fri Aug 8, 2003 11:58pm ET)report post

JKD Philosophy by Me Smile

A systematic method is the cultivation of resistance, and when there is resistance there is no understanding. A so-called well-disciplined mind is not a free mind (which selects or rejects ) A systematic method, however exacting, fixes the mind in a pattern - a crystallization. Fixing forms can never bring freedom (from fluidity). This type of dead routine is not an adequate response to the ever changing moment in life.

If you follow the systematic pattern, you're understanding the routine (A dead routine), the tradition, the shadow - you are not understanding yourself.

Systematic forms dull your creativity, condition and render frozen your sense of freedom. You are no longer "be" but merely "do"

Create immediately an atmosphere of freedom so that you can live and find out for yourselves what is true, so that you are able to face the world with the ability to understand it, not just to confirm it.

Be "self aware" rather then a repititious robot.

Inward freedom, rather than a Mechanical Efficiency

____________To present a possible direction nothing more.

The important thing for you is to be alert, to question, to find out, so that your initiative may be awakened. Understanding.

Tradition = the habit-forming mechanism of the mind.

Sensitivity is not possible if you are afraid of this, that, etc. --- the inner-authority game. Authority destroys intelligence.

Great freedom = great sensitivity.

There is no freedom if you are enclosed by:
1. Self-interest 2. Walls of discipline

Freedom is something that cannot be preconcieved. To realize freedom requires an alert mind, a mind that is deep with energy, a mind that is capable of immediate perception without the process of graduation, without the idea of an end to be slowly achieved.

Empty your mind, be form shapless like water.... So that you can change with change.
