I Will Miss You, Richard (Thu Sep 4, 2003 3:09am ET)report post
by Joannn
I'm so sorry to read that you have gone to a foreign country and dissed the President of the United States. I am astonished that you would stoop so low while our boys and girls are on foreign soil being fired upon.

I have been one of your most avid fans since I saw you in "Officer and A Gentleman" and have seen everything you have been in since. You're such a fine actor and have such a good heart, but, you have done it, now.

It is so unpatriotic to say the things you have said in another country about our President and government. Saying it here, in the USA, is one thing, but, not to foreign press...you have over-stepped your right!!

I grew up in a military family and do not appreciate your kind speaking out about these things in that arena while my loved ones are fighting on foreign soil. I, and my family, will never put another penny in your pocket and I know others who feel the same. The only reason you have the freedoms that you enjoy and the wealth and fame you have is because of the blood of our troops in past engagements and Presidents and other government officials who took the stand against socialism and communism in the world so the USA could continue to be free. And, you don't even have the respect to keep your mouth shut in the very parts of the world soaked in their blood. You, sir, are not worth the dirt they fought and died on.

God Bless the USA, Our Troops, and Our President!!!

Is this a form letter from the Office of Special Plans?

If it is not please support the 11,000 Americans who have been seriously wounded (US Army's statistics on medical evacs) in the Middle East in the last 18 months, by getting your news from other places besides cable tv. Try reading former CIA, military and FBI officers' reports at sites such as these: www.commondreams.org, www.bringthemhomenow.com (run by parents of soldiers), www.truthout.org, www.ft.com.

If you truly believe in supporting the troops please look at these and other sites. Then write your state representative and both of your senators. Gere is a better guy than you think.

Best Actor (Fri Apr 18, 2003 12:03pm ET)report post
by Lucy Starman
Richared Gere is absolutely an actor deserving of an Oscar for some of the best movies he's made. I loved "Autumn in NY" which was a beautiful movie and Gere was at his best as an older man caught up with a younger girl. He does know how to win a woman's heart, without a doubt, he has it all. However, why must he always go for the brunette models, there is a young, smart, attractive blond, very talented, and has a college degree working as architect. Hope Gere knows that not all blondes are dumb.

gere's height (Tue Apr 1, 2003 11:02am ET)report post
by löipe
No, no, no! I can't believe Richard Gere is 5' 11. I have seen in other sites that he is 5'10 and that is much more to trust.

Okay I accept that he is 5' 10" (but just barely) after my oberservations, however, I must stress - that's only in shoes with a generous heel.

Why cant everyone think this way? (Tue Mar 18, 2003 2:25pm ET)report post
by Sooze
Not only is this man very talented and has great looks,(very few in show business can claim both) but he seems like a great humanitarian. It seems like these days if you have a different political opinion your an outcast. This man is honest and speaks from the heart, no matter what consequence. KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK RICHARD.

Dear Sooze

I agree with your comments about Richard Gere and I hope he does keep up the good work! I think it does take courage to speak up for what you believe and not everyone will do this, it's easier to sit back and let someone else do the hard work and get snubbed!!

Bye

Best Movie ever. (Mon Mar 17, 2003 5:48pm ET)report post
by Diana Gondek
Have seen Chicago 5 times, and could see it many more times. Also have the soundtape. Richard got left behind again by the very biased Academy. He made that movie, and everyone that I talk with feels the same way. I thought Oscars were for talent, not political reasons. I totally agree with Richard that there should be no war. If everyone in the world thought like him, there would be no threat of war ever.
On the other hand, I think he is the sexiest man I have ever seen. He gets better with age. I am sure a lot of women will agree with me.
