by Joaquín Yesterday I got out my betamax player and looked for my American Ninja 2 movie. I remembered how much i liked that movie when I was a kid and also, how hilarious and charismatic James is (or was). I am sorry he's not around anymore and that he never got a prime role in other movies. I'm just writting this hoping he notices how people appreciated him even though we did not get to know him. U were a cool guy. Good movies. Comment on this...

by cheri I knew and dated steve in the early l980's. He had hopes of being a black superhero role model for all the african american kids. He was a superb actor and martial artist. He had his brown belt when I knew him. He was so very sweet and gentle. In infectious laugh. Comment on this...

by Melvin Davidson Steve once wrote to firehouse magazine to say that firefighters were his hero. I wrote back to thank him and was soon rewarded with a handwritten letter telling me that of all the firefighters in all the world, I was the only one that took the time to thank him. That began a mutual correspondence. He was scheduled to come to NY to visit his parents, and was also going to meet me, but became ill and succumbed to pancreatic before that happened. I've kept all his letters and his autographed picture has a place of honor in my living room. I am proud to have had him for a friend. Comment on this...

by Elliott Turner This is a tribute to Steve James. Cant believe the bad boy died, he was one hell of an actor. His films have got to be some of the funniest films in history. Yes I agree his martial arts in his films were scary (this in reply to the above comments) but they were scary cause they were so horrendously comical! This man deserves an award cause he was starring in quality 80's films that to this day can not be replicated. I wish this this guy was alive so I could shake his hand and try and kick start his acting career back into action.... finding out he died has ruined my day! Comment on this...

by HelenGloria The American Ninja movies have always been a favorite of mine. I really liked Michael Dudikoff and Steve James. Since I hadn't seen Mr. James in other movies of late, I arose today at 3 a.m. to search the web for answers. {Watched American Ninja2 last night and thats what peeked my interest!} It saddened me to learn of Mr. James early demise. So tragic such a strong man to expire of the big C at such an early age. To his family---please except my belated condolence.... Comment on this...
