Jake Gyllenhaal (pronounced JILL-en-hall), one of the country's hottest rising stars, first captured the attention of critics and audiences alike for his heartwarming performance in October Sky. He recently appeared in the critically acclaimed Donnie Darko. The romantic fantasy thriller premiered at the Sundance Film Festival in 2001 and earned him a 2002 Independent Spirit Award nomination. Seen earlier this summer as Catherine Keener's love interest in Lovely & Amazing, he is currently starring in Miguel Arteta's 2002 Sundance crowd-pleaser, The Good Girl, opposite Jennifer Aniston.

This past spring, Gyllenhaal made his stage debut starring in director Laurence Boswell's London theatre production of This is Our Youth. The play, which also starred Hayden Christensen and Anna Paquin, won Gyllenhaal rave reviews and international acclaim.

Other memorable film credits include Bubble Boy, Homegrown, Josh and S.A.M., and City Slickers, in which he made his motion picture debut. Gyllenhaal currently lives in Los Angeles.
