Biography #2 (for X-Men: The Last Stand)

Kelsey Grammer joins the cast as one of Marvel comics' most beloved characters. Dr. Henry McCoy, also known as 'Beast,' is a highly intelligent geneticist, a mutant endowed with superhuman agility and physical prowess.

Grammer has played celebrated character Dr. Frasier Crane on three different television series (Frasier, Cheers and Wings) over a span of 20 years, tying James Arness of Gunsmoke for the record of longest running television character. He has won four Emmys, two Golden Globes and a SAG Award for the role and received an unparalleled total of 16 Emmy nominations, eight Golden Globe nominations and 16 SAG nominations.

Grammer voices the character Sideshow Bob on The Simpsons, and also lent his voice to Father of the Pride, Animal Farm and Gary the Rat in which he also served as executive producer and feature films Toy Story 2, Anastasia and Teacher's Pet. The actor stars in the soon to be released Even Money, a film directed by Mark Rydell and recently starred in the NBC production A Christmas Carol. Other credits include Benedict Arnold, for A & E; Mr. St. Nick, for ABC's Hallmark Hall of Fame; Fifteen Minutes, for New Line Cinema and Down Periscope for Twentieth Century Fox.

His Paramount-based production company, Grammnet, has produced several television series, including Medium and Girlfriends. In addition to producing, he's also directed numerous episodes of Frasier, one of which earned him a DGA nomination.

Grammer studied at the Juilliard School, followed by a three year stint at the Old Globe Theatre in San Diego, performing in works by Shakespeare and George Bernard Shaw. Broadway credits include Macbeth and Othello. He also performed the title role of Richard II and Lucio in Measure for Measure at the Mark Taper Forum in Los Angeles.

Three-time Emmy Award winner Kelsey Grammer is the first actor in television history to receive multiple Emmy nominations for his performance in the same role on three different series. He received two nominations for his original portrayal of Dr. Frasier Crane on Cheers, another for his guest appearance in the role on NBC's Wings and nine nominations, which have earned him three Emmy Awards as Outstanding Lead Actor, for his work on Frasier.

Grammer was born on St. Thomas in the U.S. Virgin Islands and was raised by his mother and grandfather, first in New Jersey, and then in Florida. After the death of his grandfather, the 12-year-old Grammer was drawn to the works of William Shakespeare, which fostered his love of the English language.

Grammer's first acting performance was in a high school production of The Little Foxes, and with the encouragement of his English and drama teachers, he decided to pursue acting as a career. After two years at the Juilliard School, he was accepted by the Old Globe Theatre in San Diego, where he spent three years performing in classic works by Shakespeare and George Bernard Shaw.

Later, Grammer performed in regional theaters across the United States, including at the Guthrie in Minneapolis, before appearing in the off- Broadway productions of Plenty, Sunday in the Park with George, A Month in the Country and the Obie Award-winning Quartermaine's Terms. His Broadway credits include Macbeth and Othello, and one of his most recent stage appearances was in the title role of a production of Richard II at the Mark Taper Forum in Los Angeles.

Grammer starred in the feature-film Fifteen Minutes for New Line Cinema, which also starred Robert De Niro and Edward Burns. His additional big-screen credits include the voice of the prospector, Stinky Pete, in the critically acclaimed animated film Toy Story 2, and the film Down Periscope.

Among Grammer's television credits are roles on the daytime dramas Another World, One Life to Live and Guiding Light. He also made a guest appearance in the premiere episode of Kate & Allie and had parts in the miniseries Kennedy and the NBC movies London Suite, Dance 'til Dawn, Beyond Suspicion and The Innocent. He hosted an hour-long NBC salute to Jack Benny as well as the 1998 Grammy Awards. Additionally, he starred in the cable television movies Pentagon Wars and The Sports Pages with Bob Newhart. Grammer also starred in the ABC/Hallmark production, Mr. Saint Nick and the A&E production of Benedict Arnold.

Grammer's professional achievements include two Golden Globe Awards, an American Comedy Award and a People's Choice Award in addition to his Emmys. His autobiography, So Far ..., was published in the fall of 1995.

The actor's Paramount production company Grammnet, produced the animated series Gary the Rat for SPIKE TV; on which he serves as executive producer and lends his vocal talents to the title character. Grammer is also credited as a producer for the company's Girlfriends for UPN and previously on In-Laws for NBC.

Grammer's distinctive voice has been heard in several hit animated features, including the voice of Stinky Pete in Disney's hit Toy Story 2 and a part in Anastasia. On television, he has also been seen in several mini-series and movies. In 1996, he hosted an hour-long salute to Jack Benny for which he served as executive producer. He also starred in HBO's award-winning The Pentagon Wars.
