| by Skip Darwin Ben Johnson was not a steer roper. He was number one Team Roper in l953 in the finals for Rodeo Cowboys of America (RCA) That organization was originally called "The Turtles" and is now called Professional Rodeo Cowboys of America. I met him when he helped Casey Tibbs put on a roping clinic in Ramona, Calif in the mid 70.s. He was a dear man who posed for pictures with me, girls friends and all our kids. Casey was a good guy, full of laughs and mischief. He and Ben were old friends. It was quite a day! Comment on this... |
