As a young boy of 23, I didn''t see many of the shows he appeared in, but I want to give a short and sincere salute to a true legend. Sid - your cheeky humour won you a legion of fans and they all still love you a LOT.

We will never forget you and all pray that you're up there now surrounded by all your mates and giving them the pleasure and joy that you brought to us.

Sleep tight, Sid. You're always remembered with fondness and love.

An immortal cockney hero. His spirit will always live on.

Dear Lord, grant our dear brother Sid's spirit warmth and comfort forever. God bless his spirit. Amen.

Sid was my hero in the Carry On movies - the cheerful, lovable Cockney with his rasping chortle, his gravelly voice and his twinkling eyes. And he wasn't half bad as a singer either - after hearing the three songs he sang on Oh! What A Carry On! I particularly enjoyed his duet with Liz Frazer on Double Bunk.

We love you, Sid. You'll never be forgotten and are in our hearts forever. I bet Heaven's a brighter place to be now your cheeky spirit's there. God bless Sid and may Jesus bless his spirit. Never forgotten and with fond regards for your birthday - Sleep tight, Birthday Boy! We love you, Sid. Forever in our thoughts and hearts. Thanks a lot for the great joy you brought. Have a drink, a smoke, a bet and a flirt up there for me. Reunited with Tony Hancock, Eric Morecambe, Ernie Wise, Tommy Cooper, Les Dawson and the others in the Carry On gang. Give them my love and have a laugh with them - and thank them for the joy they brought.

A true comic legend. I'm only 22 so I've not always seen his shows - but I love the Carry On movies. It saddened me a lot the way he was left so desolate and gutted when Babs jilted him. A real hero and archetypal cheeky, jovial Cockney. God bless his spirit and he'll always live on in the hearts and thoughts of his legions of fans.

Fond and loving regards to the Carry On golden boy!

Although you may have died all those years ago, you're still in the hearts and thoughts of the fans who loved you and always will.

I loved your Carry On movies and your shows with Tony Hancock. You were my absolute hero in all the Carry On movies and your immortal, cheeky spirit lives on.

Sleep tight, Sid. Loved and never forgotten. Hope you're fit mate and enjoying a smoke, a drink, a bet and a flirt up there with all the others in the Carry On gang. I bet Heaven's a brighter place to be now that they've got the cheeky spirit of London's best - loved ex- pat son.

I thought you were a brilliant comic actor and you weren' t half bad as a singer either - I recently bought the Carry On CD with all the gang singing on it and you weren't half bad.

A short but sincere tribute to a guy we truly love. Sid's body might be dead - but his spirit's not. Fondly thought of, sincerely loved and always in our thoughts - we'll never forget you, Sid. All the best, mate. Sleep tight.
