I have liked your acting style and voice ever since seeing Major League for the first time! You ARE Lou Brown!! I watch this movie onDVD quite frequently. It is one that I never tire of!! I wished that you had been cast as the replacement for Det. Lenny Briscoe on Law & Order instead of Dennis Farina! I like your style much better that his! Thanks for all the entertainment you have given over the years!!

Huling Home (Mon Apr 19, 2004 10:57pm ET)report post
by Kim Clendaniel
Dear Mr. Gammon,

I am hoping you will somehow see this and answer right away.

I have been teaching for 20 years at the former orphanage where you grew up in Rantoul, Illinois!
Our preschool and childcare center, "Anabel Huling Early Learning Center", was known as
"The Huling Home" when you lived here as a child.
We have photos of you when you lived here!
We wrote to you two or three times over the past 20 years, but our letters always came back. It has been difficult to obtain an address!
Now, we serve 90 families in the local community, providing childcare and early childhood education.
We need your help!!!
This building is now almost 100 years old. It is full of character and we have many happy memories of the children who have come and gone through our doors over the past 20 years. But, with time, things age and need repair, and this "old lady" needs fixing! We are a "not-for profit" center, and funds are always tight.
I have never written a letter to ask for money in my life, but I will ask now.
We need a new roof, a new stove, and a new boiler. There has been a trust since the orphanage opened, but through the years, it finally dwindled to nothing this past winter. The woman who opened the current childcare and preschool in this building 20 years ago is a truly remarkable woman. Sandra Burdette has sacrificed most of her earnings and put her home up as collateral more than once for the needs of the center. Her husband is now over 50 and she is approaching 50 and they simply cannot keep on going deeper into debt for the center.
Can you find it in your heart to help us out? Many children and families would be so grateful to you. I would be very grateful to you for any help you could give us! We would be very honored to have you come and visit. I amd sure things have changed here alot since you lived here as a child. We have several folks every year knock on our door to see the home and share stories with us.
Please, please answer this email. I would be so grateful!
I am being as upfront and honest as I can be.
Very Sincerely,
Kim Clendaniel, Director, Anabel Huling Early

I came across a pic of tottlers and youngsters from Huling Home taken in 1943-1944. My family stayed there while my dad was in the AF and they could find no housing. The memories of my mother are of a loving and caring group. She still smiles when we speek of our time at the home in IL, we were from OK.My brother still has a stuffed animal the children gave him.
Interested in pic, please let me know and will scan.

Buried Child (Tue Mar 23, 2004 3:04am ET)report post
by Michael Terry
Mr. Gammon,

I am a student at Emerson College and am currently playing Dodge in a production of Sam Shepard's Buried Child. In attempting to tackle this part I have been trying to figure out a "safe" way in which to hack and cough on stage for 3 acts. I have a few meetings lined up with some of my voice teachers in the next few weeks, but I would love to get your input on how you did this without perminantly damaging your voice. I know you are the right person to ask, considering you won an award for your portrayal of the part.

If you happen to have any time to answer this email I would be greatly appreciative! It's going to be a fun (although disturbing) play to perform and I would love to hear some input from the man who originated the part!

Thanks,

Mike Terry

Silver City shoot (Mon Feb 16, 2004 10:53pm ET)report post
by matt anderson
Hi,

Mr. Gammon we met on the Silver City Shoot, on the second to the last week on shooting, I keep harassing you until I got my pic taken with you, anyways, I have a proposal for you if you get the email that is. I've been working on an independant documentary for the last three years, a mining documentary, my small crew and I have shoot onlocation in colorado for nearly two years and have now been in post production for a year and a half, we need some one with "the voice" to do our narritive.
The video is 45 min in length. However we are on a very limited budget and I believe you're a SAG actor so the green wont flow like it should.
We could work out a post profit for the aftermarket sales.

If you get this email seriously consider our offer. We'll do whatever it takes to get you as our voice over. Thanks James

I made a mistake on my email; I meant to say Charles Martin Smith. I apologize.

Since Mr. Gammon and I were born in the same year, I've grown with that gravelly voice and natural acting ability!

I like other actors like Barry Corbin, William DeVane, Ben Johnson, Charles Martin Wright. Without Mr. Gammon, and others on the screen in their wonderfully performed roles, movies would be completely unentertaining. I'm more interested in who else is in the movie, than the leading part.

Thank you, Mr. Gammon, for being around for us for so long. Keep on, keepin' on, please!
