by BRIAN ROSEN
I MET MR NICHOLS AT THE APPLE TREE PRESENTATION AT CITY CENTER IN NYC LAST YEAR. I HAD THE ALBUM FROM THE 60'S, WHEN HE SAW ME HOLDING IT HE STOPPED AND TALKED WITH ME. WHAT AN AMAZING MAN.
I HAVE SEEN MANY SHOWS AND HAD MANY BRAODWAY MOMENTS BUT THAT NIGHT MR NICHOLS WAS JUST AMAZING, HE TALKED TO ME AS WE WERE FRIENDS FOR YEARS.
WHAT A NICE MAN

Nichols is too fabulous (Thu Dec 4, 2003 4:06pm ET)report post

Mike Nichols, his work I sincerely enjoy. His energy I admire.

What I like most about the talented man, his vision. And how he allows us to see his work.

I'm just not easily impressed. He impresses the HELL out of me. Have you seen Wit? Not many different shots, but man, he showed the woman's life to me and me only. That's how it made me feel. That's compelling! Yes, the writing crucial.

I just want to know, how the hell can I send correspondence to his office?

Is there an address where I can reach this man? I am a young, aspiring film director. I KNOW IN MY MIND, WE"LL WORK TOGETHER SOMEDAY...REAL SOON.

Can anyone help me?

Catch-22 (Sat Apr 26, 2003 4:11am ET)report post
by Diane
I have read and read and read and loved Catch-22 it is my favorite book of all time, and when I heard that there was a movie I ran to get it, however it was probably one of the worst movie versions of a book I have ever seen, especially of one as wonderful as Catch-22. The other night while sitting through class I learned that the 90 some minute version was not entirely of Nichols' doing infact he already felt as though he was compromising the book by presenting a four hour version of the eight hour movie that he had filmed. Judging by alot of the other films that he has directed I know that he is a great director, and I would very much enjoy seeign this extended version of Catch-22. I wish I knew how to find his address or something like that because he needs to release a director's cut of Catch-22 because the Butchered movie panned by everyone, and for good reason, needs to prove that it is much better as the artists vision and not the producers pc money maker. Mike Nichols if you ever read forums like this please please please do this. Do some justice to the book and to your artistic vision. Put out a director's cut of either your 4 hour cut or (even better) the 8 hour one. Catch-22 is a long and complicated book and the only way to do it justice is, I am sure as you did but never had the chance to release.

thanks

I saw the original release of Catch-22 which ran all of three weeks before being yanked from local theatres. Since its release, I have been looking for the original release, but no soap. I agree a director's cut is sorely needed to replace the current this gutted version of a classic.
