Raveena Tandon
Her first film Patthar Ke Phool (1991) was a hit, she received the Filmfare Lux New Face Award for her debut performance. She then made headlines with her fight with Karisma Kapoor, the other leading lady in the film Andaz Apna Apna (1994).
Her next film Mohra (1994) made her a superstar overnight. However the following films flopped at the box office, but her career was back on track with her hit film Ziddi (1997).
She then began to do films which ganered critical acclaim rather than box office success. Films like Shool (1999), Bulandi (2000) and Aks (2001) won her huge acclaim. She won the Filmfare Special Performance Award for Aks. Her years in the industry paid off when she won the National Film Award for Best Actress for her performance in the film Daman: A Victim of Marital Violence (2001), where she played a wife of an abusive husband.
Her last release was Ek Se Badhkar Ek, she has not acted in films since then.
Personal life
She adopted two children Pooja And Chhaya as a single mother in the 1990s. Subsequently, she married Anil Thadani and gave birth to a baby girl called Rasha on March 16, 2005. She is expecting her second child in July 2007.
