Michael Chiklis is best known to television audiences as the warmhearted police commissioner Toni Scali in the self-titled The Commish; the acclaimed drama ran for four seasons on ABC. Chiklis is a Massachusetts native who, following his stage debut at the age of 13, received his Equity card and began splitting his time between schoolwork and performing.
Following graduation from Boston University and relocation to New York, he played the part of John Belushi in the motion picture Wired. Chiklis has continued to work in both theater and film, having recently made his Broadway debut in the one man show Defending the Caveman at the Booth Theater. He starred in episodes of the series Miami Vice, Wiseguy, L.A. Law and Murphy Brown before being cast as The Commish. He recently guest-starred on NBC's Seinfeld and CBS's Touched by an Angel. His feature film credits include Oliver Stone's Nixon and The Taxman.
