She has recently completed filming Maggie Greenwald's Songcatcher (in which she stars opposite Aidan Quinn) and Kristian Levring's Dogme 95 feature The King Is Alive (with Jennifer Jason Leigh).
For her Broadway debut as Nora in the 1997 revival of Henrik Ibsen's A Doll's House, McTeer was honored with Drama Desk, Theatre World and Outer Critics Circle Awards, as well as the Tony Award for Best Actress in a Play. She was honored with the London Critics, Time Out, and the Olivier Awards for the same role, when she performed it in London's West End.
McTeer has starred in a number of prestigious U.K. television productions, including 102 Boulevard Haussmann, and Precious Bane, both of which were broadcast in the U.S. on PBS' Masterpiece Theatre; and My Life, for director John Boorman.
Her prolific London stage credits include The Grace of Mary Traverse, at the Royal Court Theatre, and Uncle Vanya, at the Royal National Theatre, which both earned her Olivier Award nominations. She trained at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art.
