Amanda Bynes Biography (4)
Prior to having her own show, Bynes was a regular cast member on Nickelodeon's All That for four years, beginning at the age of 10. She was best known for her Ask Ashley sketch, as the sweet-natured advice columnist with a mean streak triggered by stupid letters, as well as her character, the Whatever Girl, a Valley girl satire. After just one season on All That, Bynes was nominated for a Cable Ace Award alongside Tracey Ullman and Janeane Garofalo. Bynes was discovered at a stand-up comedy showcase at The Laugh Factory in Los Angeles by All That producers Brian Robbins and Dan Schneider. Originally there to scout male talent, they were awestruck by Bynes' comedic timing and stage presence, and immediately cast her in the show.
Bynes has 18 national television commercials to her credit and has appeared on ABC's The Drew Carey Show, WB's The Nightmare Room, HBO's ArIi$$ and Nickelodeon's Figure It Out, as well as talk shows such as The Rosie O'Donnell Show, The Martin Short Show, The Donny and Marie Show and The Howie Mandel Show. She received the Kids' Choice Award for Favorite TV Actress in 2000 and 2001. She recently signed a pilot deal with the WB for a primetime sitcom to be created for her.
