Brian Keith's mother was NOT the Helen Shipman who was a star of Broadway musicals and who also appeared in the movies. His mother was HELENA Shipman of Aberdeen, Washington. She was a stage actress of some note during the same time frame as was HELEN Shipman, and this probably caused some confusion regarding the names. HELEN Shipman was from Pennsylvania and married the well-known Broadway/movie/radio actor, Edward J. Pawley. The Pawleys were friends of mine, and I heard them speak of this confusion between the two Shipman ladies.
