| by Joan Radabaugh Regarding your biography of Richard Cromwell/LeRoy Melvin Radabaugh: There are some errors/omissions in this biography that I would like to bring to your attention. I am one of Roy Radabaugh’s nieces (his brother’s daughter). My name is Joan Radabaugh (born July, 1932). Roy’s father’s name was RALPH R. RADABAUGH (not Hobart). Ralph R Radabaugh did, in fact, die of influenza during the pandemic of 1918. Roy was the second oldest of the five children of Ralph R. and Fay B. Stocking Radabaugh. Richard Cromwell traveled to New York to appear on the Broadway stage in the 1936-1937 season. He also appeared in a play at the Los Angeles Biltmore Theater in 1939. (I have playbills for three of these stage plays.) The two art deco oil paintings that hang in the Pantages Theater were done by Roy in the late 1930 ‘s or early 40’s. He did use his screen name--Richard Cromwell--in marketing his ceramic art. (I have an original copy of his first catalog). Roy continued his ceramics/architectural tile work up until shortly before his death in 1960. In addition, he was preparing for a return to the theater in Los Angeles at the time his cancer was diagnosed. Comment on this... | ||||
