| by Sandy O'Leary I loved The Big Valley in the 60s and now watching the re-runs.I had the most massive crush on Nick Barclay. I am also a massive Elvis fan and to me Peter Breck is the most handsomest man to ever have walked this earth,2nd to Elvis and that's saying something.I don't think Peter ever got the recognition he deserved and I can't understand to this day why.He's a terrific actor and should have got the sort of roles given to people such as Al Pacino,Robert De Nero etc.He should have been up there with the greats. | by Ron Folks, Just want to say I sent Peter an email last year. I told him that as a kid in the mid-1960's I was utterly fixated on every word Peter said in The Big Valley. I told him that each word he spoke had meaning, honor, nobility and action behind it. I told him that even at 12 years of age I could see that this was really him speaking not a character. I told him that I recently researched his biography and found that he is an expert fast draw, so the scenes where you saw him pull a gun are truly a sight to behold. I also found that he is an expert horseman. So, when he rides he rides very well. When he speaks you can write his promise in stone or blood, you choose. Folks, it turns out my impressions were correct at 12. This was Peter Breck talking not a character. I told him he was an inspiration for me when I came back from the Marine in early 1970's as a 100% disabled veteran. I watched every re-run while horizontal and bed-ridden. I told him he helped me get back on my feet and re-square my priorities. Seems Peter Breck has influenced my life quite a bit and I told him so. He emailed back and admitted he lacked the words to describe how glad he is to have been a positive influence in my life. He said it made making "BV" as he called it worth while. He was thoughtful, grateful and humble. Like I said, it's Peter Breck talking not some character off a page. Thanks again Peter, you're the real deal. Take care. Ron Comment on this... | ||||

| by plewis My Pappy raised me on TV westerns, I'm 35 and grew up on Big Valley re-runs---I, too, had a teenage crush, on Mr. Barkley--and I still think he represents what a true Cowboy should be---rugged, ready to fight for what he believes in and never back down--Thank you, Peter Breck for being my hero and from what I have read and researched a real gentleman ---they are few and far between these days--My husband and I watch you every night through the week thanks to Encore Westerns---God Bless you and yours and thanks again for the wonderful memories.
