by Connie I loved the TV Series "How The West Was Won" that James Arness starred in during the late 70's. Does anyone know if this can be purchased on VHS or DVD? I would love to find it. Thanks for your help. Comment on this...

by Forrest Johnson I think James Arness is the greatest western actor. I love the scripts written for him as being very honest, strong, intelligent, straight forward and, not to forget, he's also very handsome. I recently purchased all three of his Gunsmoke movies and the Season I and Season II series recently made available to the public through Columbia House Membership. I look forward to purchasing the entire 20 years of Gunsmoke as it is made available to the public. Why has there not been a Biography shown for James Arness, Amanda Blake, Milburn Stone and Ken Curtis? My mother loved Gunsmoke and so does my entire family. I am glad he is well and happy. Best wishes to him and his family. Miss Forrest Johnson Riverdale, Georgia 770-909-5911 Comment on this...

by LEN I grew up on Gunsmoke. It gave me respect for the law. It taugh me honesty, dignity and courage. James Arness' voice and statue described all the things that I mention above. I will always be grateful to him. My next statement is a bold one, especially with westerns as my favorite of tv and movies... Of all the cowboys, James Arness is the greatest! Comment on this...

by Debbie James Arness is a great American actor and a great American, serving his country in WWII nearly giving his life. He spent a year in the hospital recovering from wounds. He also brought to life one of the greatest male characters ever created, Marshal Matt Dillon. He played that role for 20 years on Gunsmoke plus in 5 made for tv movies. As wonderful as Matt Dillon is...James Arness is Matt times 10. Just an awesome human being. You can visit his website at: http://www.jamesarness.com and also join the Delphi Gunsmoke message board at: http://forums.delphiforums.com/gunsmokeforum and join the Gunsmoke yahoo group at: http://groups.yahoo.com/group/Gunsmoke/ Regards, Debbie Comment on this...
