| by Kelly I saw him for the first time in B. Monkey and I thought he was really cute. After that I saw Velvet Goldmine and Gormenghast. I've seen him in other things too but those are the movies he's been in that I really loved him in. I hear he's going to be in Prozac Nation but the damn thing's release date keeps getting pushed back. When the hell is it coming out? Comment on this... |

He ran a gamut of emotions in this one film that Russell Crowe has never managed in all of his movies combined. Considering Jonny’s background - he was "discovered" in a pool hall - his extraordinary natural talent is utterly mindboggling. As is his remarkable range: he effortlessly moves from the deliciously dastardly Steerpike in the melodramatic fantasy of GHORMENGHAST to the elegant rocker in VG (AND he did most of his own vocals), from a demented delinquent in Shakespeare's TITUS to a beautifully rendered and multi-faceted 1940s youth in Tarkington's Pulitzer prize winner, THE MAGNIFICENT AMBERSONS. The latter is a lovely slice of American, set in Indiana, and Irish Jonny not only captured the accent exquisitely, but managed to carry off the use of seriously outdated slang. Not bad for a street kid of limited education and virtually no training as an actor. . Comment on this... |
