I saw Robert Duvall for the first time as a guest on The Naked City ( black and white tv) I don't remember what his role was about only that it was a large part and I said to my wife when it was over " this guys going to be a big star". 25 years of being married and the only time I was right about anything. Thank you Robert.

I agree that Robert Duvall (two Ls) is a great actor. He has not, however, started anything related to a soccer team in Haiti! That accomplishment belongs to Robert Duval (one L), a former political prisoner under Baby Doc Duvalier, who started a youth development program in Haiti that feeds and trains more than 650 kids in soccer, basketball and track-and-field. Check out HBO Real Sports for more info.

Robert Duval is not onlya great actor, he is also a great human being. He has created a soccer team in Haiti, among many others.

More importantly, he has strongly critized mogul Steven Spielberg's hypocrisy for declaring that dictator Castro is the best man in the world, ignoring the sufering of the Cuban poeple, as opposed to his stance on the jewish holocaust. This comments will not certanily bring Duval more opportunities, but he considers dignity and priciple an invaluable asset.

In my opinion Mr. Duval is the greatest and most talented actor in the U.S, head and shoulders above any other actor or actress performing today. With his versatile acting skills and talents he is able to perform any role with superb execution. Notably, in some of his past movie credits, Mr. Duval should have been awarded and Oscar. Lastly, Mr. Robert Duval's characterization of "Augustus McCrae" In the TV production of "Lonesome Dove", hit the pinacle in his superb ability to capture the very essence of that person depicted in Mr Larry McMurtry's "Lonesone Dove" Book. Mr.
Duval has that rare acting ability to become that who he portrays with convincing reality. Mr. Duval is such a rarely gifted performer, and who I believe only emerges once in a lifetime.

My husband and I went to see Open Range, it would have been a fair movie had it not been for the language that Mr.Duvall used. He used God's name in vain several times and then he called God a S.O.B. I'm just sorry that I didn't get up and walk out! I have to answear to God for that!

A big smile for Duvall as Lee in G & G.

Having studied the life and character (and some of the personal characteristics) of Robert E. Lee for the last five years....also, having
portrayed him as the older man (after the war) for two years myself....I'd like to give my evaluation of Robert D.'s portrayal of General Lee: It was excellent!

Every actor is restricted by the purpose of the scene and the written dialogue. Duvall did an excellent job in representing Lee in both. Any suggestions I would make for improvement on his part are absolutely minimal and are probably unnoticed by most viewers.

Duvall's accent was good as were his Lee mannerisms.

One scene for example: Lee and others are listening the performance of "Bonnie Blue Flag." Duvall, as Lee would, is
trying to maintain a dignified aire since he is in public. Yet, Duvall (as I am sure that Lee would) was ever so gently swaying with the music--and minimally (as I recall) tapping his feet to the music. This, in my opinion, is exactly how Lee (who loved music) would have acted in public. In private, Lee was a much more laid-back individual.

Congrats to Mr. D. for an excellent job.

Tom Forehand, Jr.

I was on the set of G&G and saw Robert Duvall in action. It was a great scene "Bonnie Blue Flag" -chapter 39 on the DVD. I'm on the screen standing behind Dr. Maguire.
