Goulds layed back almost 'non acting' style of performance was always gonna fall foul of the 'impress the audience with razzamatazz histrionics' style of movies that came about post seventies-hence his fall from grace (and sutherlands to a lesser degree) was unavoidable.Never the less his work with altman stands as a testemant to a guy who should get a little more credit and a lot more recognition than he does.His missing out on the lead in woody allens 'Deconstructing Harry' because of a binding theatre gig means we were cheated out of a possible 'Gould' renaissance-DAMN!
