| by Carolyn O'Reilly Many years ago in St. Louis several young preformers came in to town and entertained an appreciative crowd at the Chase Hotel. As I remember they were called "The Kids". Frank Sinatra Jr., I think Totie Fields daughter, Joe E. Lewis's offspring and a young lady named Liza Minnellie, who absolutely stole the show. I was about 6 years older than she and the performance was so overwhelming that it left me in tears........ I just knew she would be a star. Frank Sinanta Jr. sounded to much like his Dad and the others as you can see left not much of an impression. Back then in St. Louis we had Gas Light Square where new talent was discovered and went on to big things - the Smothers Brothers, Phylis Diller were among them. I have loved being in on the beginning of a successful career and watching them grow..... now at the end of my life (I have been diagnosed with lung, liver and lymph node cancer) I just had to write to thank Liza for her inspiration - her never give up attitude in searching for happiness and her determination to live the kind of life she wants. I have now been here 7 months longer than I was expected to be. My 4 children tell me I am an inspiration to them, but Liza has been mine........ with all the troubles she has had and the heartache she has endured I can face what I have to without much trouble.... this is the first time I have ever written to a celebrity and for weeks I have wanted to, but was reluctant because it sounds silly to thank someone you have never met, but I just had to thank Liza and wish her all the luck in the world Comment on this... |

| by El I just want to say how much I admire Liza Minnelli as a person and as a hollywood star! She has had to go through many hard things in her life, and has yet managed to get through and become a stronger person because of this. She is such a fantastic singer, dancer and actress. An old film, Cabaret, starring Liza Minnelli reflects her enormous talent!! Many think becoming a Hollywood star is just about being rich and famous, but it is not all the glamour and glitz it may seem. This is recently shown in when she was very nearly mugged for her jewellery by a group of youths, in March. This is not nice for anyone!! I admire Liza for her talent and will power, and am happy that she has settled down with David Gest, with which she seems very content. She deserves it! Comment on this... |
