MAMA MAYA IS AN INSIPIRATION (Tue May 16, 2006 6:45am ET)report post
by KWAME
MAMA MAYA ANGELOU IS A PHENOMENAL WOMAN IN BODY, MIND AND SPIRIT.

MAMA MAYA HAS TALENT AS AN ACTRESS, A POET, A SCHOLAR AND AN AUTHOR.

MAMA MAYA HAS INSIPIRATED OUR YOUTH WITH HER POETRY AND ENOUGH RESPECT FOR HER WORKS.

I HAVE ONLY SEEN MAMA MAYA STARRING WITH MAMA OPRAH WINFREY IN A FILM, WHICH I CAN'T REMEMBER.

I UNDERSTAND WHILE LIVING IN GHANA, MAMA MAYA ANGELOU CAN SPEAK FANTE. THAT'S GOOD ON YOU, MAMA MAYA AND YOU MUST HELP US SPEAK OUR OWN LANGUAGES, INSTEAD OF SPEAKING LANGUAGES WHICH DOES'NT BELONG TO US.

I WISH MAMA MAYA ANGELOU ALL THE BEST AND CONTINUE WRITING MORE POEMS.

LOTS OF LOVE
KWAME

Dr. Angelou Fan (Wed Feb 22, 2006 1:28am ET)report post

Dear Dr. Maya Angelou or anyone who can help get in touch with her;
I am praying that Ms. Maya will see this. Dr. Angelou has been my inspriration for reading and writing since the early seventy's when I purchased and read "I know why the cage bird sings". First of all it was the first book I had ever read or seen by a black woman. I did not know about Zora (Neale Hurston) yet. I can't explain the excitement I felt back then knowing not only that a black woman could write a book but she happened to be one of the two women whenever they were on television my grandmother would make everyone in the room be quiet, pay attention and listen, The other one was Shirley Chisolm. I would love to meet you Dr. Angelou and get some advice on my writing.

My daughter is doing a project on Maya Angelou and has became very influence by her many works. Is it possible Ms. Angelou can give her some info of her years here in North Carolina? The project: a sweet potatoe is a farmous person from N.C. or some relation to N.C., it would be very helpful and most honored of her assistance. My daughter wants to continue her report on Ms. Angelou, she has many of the same liking as Ms. Angelou. Is there an address or website that I know for sure that Ms. Angelou would get this message. My daughter would also like to send her a picture of her finished project

You inspire Me (Wed Mar 2, 2005 1:35pm ET)report post

Dear Dr. Maya Angelou. I can't even begin to tell how much of a "Phenomonal Woman" you really and truly are. I am 17 and I attend high school in Colorado. I had been familiar with your poetry, however I had not read any of your books until recently. I just finished "I know why the caged bird sings," and it had me laughing so hard I would cry, frowning so much i'd turn red, and so moved I would literally feel pain. I really enjoyed the part of the story in which Bailey demonstrated that Sister and her "Preach It!" incident. And how your are so honest in your writing. No matter how uncomfortable the topic, you still described it with such presision. I admire you so much! I am a junior in high school, and it's getting to be about that time I apply for colleges and universities. Well I read on the back of the book cover that you were or are a professior at Wake Forest University in North Carolina. I would glady apply to that college, so to be lectured by you. A teacher was telling me today how powerful your voice is, and I would love to experience it. I am also a poet and aspiring writer, and I could not even fathom being as successful in my writing as you are with yours. You truly inspire me to do my best in all I do, because after all, things could always be worse!! Thank you so much for sharing your story with the world, and me personally. Thank you.

Does Dr. Angelou have an official "fan" site? (Tue Sep 7, 2004 10:05pm ET)report post
by kathey
I went to the official website for Maya Angelou and it is clearly stated don't write unless it is for official business only. Is there a fan site or address where she receives mail that someone goes through to see if it may be something Dr. Angelou would be interested in seeing? I have something a young friend (age 5) did for her and I'd like to send it to the correct place if possible. Thanks

K.
