| by Jenny I think he's an OKAY actor. Good in some roles, but sometimes mostly typecast as the cool main hero character. His character is annoying in Newsies, But I guess i still like him anyways. He's good with accents and emotion though. Comment on this... | ||||

| by Mordred FOR YOUR CONSIDERATION IN THE BEST LEAD ACTOR CATEGORY: "There's a new superhero in Gotham City. His name is CHRISTIAN BALE and he takes the Batman story to stunning new heights." (Clay Smith, ACCESS HOLLYWOOD) "CHRISTIAN BALE is just right for this emerging version of Batman. He suggests an inward quality that suits the character." (Roger Ebert, THE CHICAGO SUN TIMES) "CHRISTIAN BALE brings a solid physicality and a psychological intensity to the role." (Eleanor Ringel Gillespie, THE ATLANTA JOURNAL CONSTITUTION) "CHRISTIAN BALE is not only physically toned (a very important part of an actor's preparation these days) but delivers an intense, affecting performance." (Desson Thomson, THE WASHINGTON POST) "CHRISTIAN BALE delivers a subtle and engrossing performance as the divided hero, a man torn by guilt, anger and fear, who seeks a way to turn these negative emotions into a positive force for fighting evil." (Kirk Honeycutt, THE HOLLYWOOD REPORTER) CHRISTIAN BALE IN "BATMAN BEGINS". FOR YOUR CONSIDERATION IN THE BEST LEAD ACTOR CATEGORY. Comment on this... |

| by Mordred FOR YOUR CONSIDERATION IN THE BEST LEAD ACTOR CATEGORY: "CHRISTIAN BALE, calling on our movie memories of him as a wounded child (Empire Of The Sun) and an adult menace (American Psycho), creates a vulnerable hero of flesh, blood and haunted fire." (Peter Travers, ROLLING STONE) "CHRISTIAN BALE turns out to be an excellent fit for Christopher Nolan's conception of the Dark Knight. There is a leanness, a sense of purpose about his performance. Bale uses these qualities to create a painfully earnest character driven to a life of crime-fighting almost against his will." (Kenneth Turan, THE LOS ANGELES TIMES) "And fine actor that he is, CHRISTIAN BALE runs away with the role of the young Caped Crusader. His aura of troubled, focused intensity is just right and he ends up being by far the most interesting, believable and charismatic of all movie Batmen." (William Arnold, SEATTLE POST-INTELLIGENCER) "CHRISTIAN BALE gives us the best Bruce Wayne that has ever graced the screen. He's grave, intense - a tormented straight arrow. This Wayne has a streamlined profile and eyes that are all business, and his joking one-liners carry the weight of a man who's seen more than he wants to. Wayne may play at being an all-American playboy but behind the social mask, he's closer to an American psycho, a role the actor once made his own in a film of that very title. From Patrick Bateman to Batman, Bale hints, is a very small step." (Ty Burr, THE BOSTON GLOBE) "Of course, a Batman movie is nothing without a Bruce Wayne, and by a mile, CHRISTIAN BALE is the best. No stranger to reinvention himself, Bale handily trumps his predecessors because he doesn't try to play the part in any one particular way. Instead, he embraces the fragmented identity of a man who wears so many masks he feels his real self slipping away in the scramble. Thus, Wayne is by turns brooding adolescent, foppish playboy, concerned social advocate and then, with a quick change of costume (and voice), a terrifying force of the Id - a Batman who, even demystified, still manages to cast a long, dark, mythic shadow." (Scott Foundas, THE LOS ANGELES WEEKLY) CHRISTIAN BALE in "BATMAN BEGINS" FOR YOUR CONSIDERATION IN THE BEST LEAD ACTOR CATEGORY. Comment on this... |

| by Mordred One of my all-time favorite actors indeed happens to be Mr. CHRISTIAN BALE. I really cannot explain it. The present crop of famous Hollywood golden boys always leaves me cold. (Affleck, Clooney, Cruise, Damon, Depp, DiCaprio, Farrell, Kutcher, Law, MaGuire, Pitt, Reeves, etc.) I find myself strangely drawn more to those highly-talented actors whom Tinseltown either has prematurely abandoned way too soon or refuses to completely embrace in favor of vacuous and less deserving showbiz personalities. Minor stars with virtual cult followings like NICK STAHL ("Carnivale"), JONATHAN RHYS-MEYERS ("Elvis"), HENRY THOMAS ("E.T."), SEAN PATRICK FLANERY ("The Young Indiana Jones"), LOREN DEAN ("Billy Bathgate"), NOAH TAYLOR ("The Year My Voice Broke"), ALEX DIMITRIADES ("Head On") and others. I'm the kind of person who honestly doesn't care at all regarding the next Cruise or DiCaprio blockbuster, yet eagerly looks forward to SCOTT BAIO's guest appearances as the new Bluth family lawyer on "Arrested Development". Isn't that weird? In this very special group of thespians ("The Changelings"), CHRISTIAN BALE has definitely become the most enigmatic cult film actor of his generation. He possesses one of the most fascinating career trajectories around from "Empire Of The Sun" to "Batman Begins". I'm so glad that he successfully broke through the barriers of mainstream Hollywood and finally achieved his much deserved superstardom as the Caped Crusader. (Is it too early for starting an Oscar campaign on his behalf?) I wish him and the others much success and happiness in their professional and personal lives. Comment on this... | ||||
