| by Debra I have been treated to her films again recently on TCM, and have been reminded of what a wonderful actress she was, and how she really shined when she went a bit "out of the box" of that comfortable, "society gal" image, and plumbed the depths a little more. I absolutely adore the films of the 30's before the CODE got to them  . She had a very unusual beauty, not cookie-cutter, beautiful nontheless. Very sensual. From reading her biography, just personally, I like the fact that she was married to Thalberg for a long time, then made a long and successful marriage to a man 14 years younger than herself until her death. None of these five, six, seven marriages! How nice-hopefully, if it was a happy marriage.I hope they continue to have "Norma" nights on the various classic movie channels. Comment on this... |
