Do you know if there is a CD, DVD or any kind of record of the performance of The Unseen Hand? I desperately need it.

Re: Purgatory was amazingly original.

Sam is a genius as a playwrite and as an actor. His everyman characters are deep and subtle (like him) with timeless moral messages .

Enjoyed the film very much. Very well played, good atmosphere, fine story. A kind of development in the Western genre I like very much. Reminded me of a t.v. series: Deadman's Gun. (of which I only the first one liked, the one that the small things-seller of buttons, needles etc, changed into a sherrif).

Saw Purgatory on Dutch television; Canal V8; rather late in the evening.

The great thing about this film was its successful combination of two genres: Western and Spiritual Allegory. The actors did everything right, a fact which speaks well for them, the writer, and the director.

I think the truly typical American would agree with the film's moral point, which seems to be that it is not weapons which are bad but their inappropriate use. This implies that there are circumstances which demand their appropriate use.

Sam Shepard shines - quietly - in this film as he does in everything else.
