Cathy Podewell

Cathy Podewell was born in Evanston, IL, and raised in Northern California's bay area. Although her father is a physical education teacher and her mother a residential realtor, Ms. Podewell does have theatrical roots in her family. Her grandparents, Lester and Beverly Podewell are well known actors in Chicago and her grandfather recently starred in the feature film Field of Dreams at the age of 81.

While excelling as a student in high school, Ms. Podewell was also a member of the marching band and a cheerleader in addition to starring in many theatrical productions. She attended the University of California at Santa Barbara where she majored in both drama and dance and was featured in such plays as No, No, Nanette and Jules Feiffer's Hold Me. Her introduction into the professional ranks came when she moved to Los Angeles to study with noted acting coach John Lehne. She soon secured a guest-starring role in the television series Lady Blue and a starring role in the feature film Night of the Demons. Ms. Podewell has since guest-starred on such television series as Valerie's Family and in the 1987-88 season premiere of Growing Pains where she played Kirk Cameron's beautiful love interest who was cursed with a shockingly shrill voice. She will also be featured in the upcoming motion picture Beverly Hills Brats starring Martin Sheen.

In her spare time, Ms. Podewell enjoys swimming, reading and painting in watercolor. She devotes part of each summer as a volunteer counselor at the Muscular Dystrophy Association camp in Northern California.
