Sam Neill was born in Northern Ireland before his family returned to New Zealand when he was seven years old. His first feature film was Sleeping Dogs. He then moved to Australia and his performance in My Brilliant Career was noticed by British actor
James Mason who lobbied for Neill to get the lead role in The Final Conflict. In 1993, he achieved commercial and critical success with Jurassic Park and The Piano. Among his many credits are the two Jurassic Park sequels, Event Horizon, The Horse Whisperer, Wimbledon and the highly acclaimed Australian TV mini-series
