Patricia Neal

A legend of screen, stage and television, Patricia Neal studied drama at Northwestern University and worked as a model before making her Broadway debut in The Voice of the Turtle in 1946. Her unforgettable stage performance on Broadway in Another Part of the Forest (for which she received Tony, Donaldson and New York Drama Critics Awards) led to her film debut in 1949 with John Loves Mary. Her compelling follow-up performance in The Fountainhead guaranteed a succession of starring roles, including It's a Great Feeling, The Hasty Heart, Bright Leaf, Three Secrets, The Breaking Point, The Day the Earth Stood Still. Diplomatic Courier and Washington Story. Neal then married British writer Roald Dahl, moved to London, and for several years was absent from the screen.

She made a breathtaking return in the 1957 hit A Face In the Crowd, followed by the classic masterpiece Breakfast at Tiffany's. Neal then delivered a series of widely-acclaimed, award-winning performances beginning with Hud (for which she received the Academy Award, British Academy Award and New York Film Critics' Award for Best Actress), In Harm's Way (recognized with another British Academy Award) and The Subject Was Roses (which gained Neal an Academy Award nomination). Her subsequent screen credits include Baxter, The Passage, Ghost Story and An Unremarkable Life.

Neal also appeared on Broadway in The Children 's Hour, Cat on a Hot Tin Roof, Roomful of Roses and The Miracle Worker.

On television, Neal has received Emmy Award nominations for The Homecoming, All Quiet On the Western Front and Tail-Gunner Joe.
