Mitzi and I come from a time when dancers reached perfection that will never be seen again.

I just met Mitzi Gaynor and her husband Jack Bean last night. It was the AFI annual Xmas party at Morton's in Beverly Hills. And let me tell you that woman is in top shape. Gorgeous. Gracious. Kind. A true star. She introduced us to her husband, Jack. He appeared a bit frail but otherwise in tip top shape. Alert and charming himself. What a pair. The best in mankind. Absolutely the best. I feel blessed that she kissed me on the cheek. I'll carry that memory forever!

Thought you'd like to know.

I recently purchased a vintage fox stole and the name embrodiered on the lining is Mitzi. Do you think this can in fact be hers? How do I go about finding out?

I am sorry to hear that Miss Gaynor has Alzheimers and that's why she no longer performs. She was one of the greatest dancers in the 50's. I loved her in "There's No Business" with Donald O'Connor. She also had a pleasant, but not great, singing voice. She was a great talent. I'll always remember her great sense of humor. I think she would have made a great stand-up comic. It was always held against her that she ruined the role of Nelly Forbush in "South Pacific"; but I thought she was good. The studio wanted Doris Day for that role, but Metro wouldn't lend her to Fox. The Studio System was very strong in the 50's and 60's. I'll always remember her as that adorable, sexy, redhead.

Hold on a sec, did I miss something? The delicious Mitzi doesn't have Alzheimers! Her husband, Jack Bean, has been a little under the weather (arthritis and sciatica), so Mitzi stayed home with him. And, no (where do these inacuracys begin?), Mitzi did not 'ruin' the role of Nellie Forbush in "South Pacific." At least not according to an awful lot of critics and millions of folk who saw the film over and over again. Logan, Rogers and Hammerstein chose Mitzi after auditioning her and viewing her screen test. Logan later said of Mitzi : "She's a fine, deep, serious actress, probably the most talented girl - in all directions - of anyone around these days." For the full Gaynor Biog why not check out the two part article 'Mitzi Gaynor - A Celebration,' at Films of the Golden Age/Classic Images, or join the MG Group on Yahoo, where 'Gaynorphiles' can 'go on about' the glorious gaynor.

Mitzi Gaynor is probably the greatest all round entertainer in the business, she has it all, beauty, style, dress sense, a great comedienne, great singer dancer, I have several of her tv shows, and friends of mine have seen here in las vegas and say she was the BEST>

Message to Gloria Lowe: You say you have several of Mitzi's tv shows? I always considered myself to be her biggest fan. Is there any way I can get copies?
