unfair Deborah Solomon article (Mon Dec 17, 2007 9:11am ET)report post
by ruth teBrake
I really wanted Francis Ford Coppola to know that I was appalled by the loaded questions that Solomon asked when interviewing him for the New Yorker. It certainly seemed that she wasn't interested in letting us get to know him, rather she actually ended up interviewing herself.

I am in possession of a 35mm workprint screen test reel for Godfather 1 (dated 2/11/71) and a "nagra" sound reel for "Apocolypse Now". They were found in the wall of your old home on Vallejo Street in SF.
Would you like them?

GODFATHER Pt.IV(4)? (Tue Feb 6, 2007 2:25am ET)report post
by ronald holt
MR. COPPOLA, I DON'T KNOW IF YOU GET A CHANCE TO READ YOUR FORUM, HOWEVER, I AM AN OBSSESED WITH THE BRILLIANT FILMMAKING OF "THE GODFATHER" MOVIES. THE "GODFATHER" PT. III LEFT ROOM FOR A "GODFATHER" PT. IV(4). PLEASE INFORM ME THAT YOU WILL MAKE A "GODFATHER IV(4)"!!! I'VE WAITED IN GREAT ANTICIPATION FOR YOU TO MAKE AN ANNOUNCEMENT. YOU ARE A BRILLIANT FILMMAKER AND STORYTELLER. I'M SURE YOU DON'T REQUIRE ANY HELP IN DEVELOPING A STORYLINE FOR IT, BUT I WOULD LOVE TO MAKE SOME SUGGESTIONS. YOU MUST GET ANDY GARCIA AND TALIA SHIRE BACK TO MAKE IT WORK. AND DON'T FORGET THE GUY WHO PLAYED "AL NERI."

Don't know if Mr. Coppola ever looks through these forums or anyone that might know him, however here goes. How about a movie in the style of Gladiator or Troy that tells the story of Constantinus Chlorus, his wife Helena, and their son who made the declaration of the Edict of Milan public, Constantine the Great. Maybe call it 'Constantine the Great' or 'Milan.' Being as he is good friends with the esteemed Sheen family, maybe Martin and Emilio could play that father and son. Elizabeth Taylor as Helena, who journeys to the Holy Land. Get Travolta as Maxentius that Constantine defeats in the historical battle of Milvian Bridge. I know that Constantine also had two co-emperors but as can be expected there would have to be considerable research. I have always loved the opening and closing scenes of Gladiator with the wheat fields. How about some of those beautiful vineyards from such an awesome Italian director. Viva Francis Ford Coppola!

pointlessly killing animals (Sun Jan 11, 2004 1:29am ET)report post
by M.l.Johnson
This may sound like a joke and be funny to a lot of people but I think it was an obscene vain pathetic, egocentric act to slaughter an innocent ox during the making of apocalypse now. and everyone involved in the movie seem equally unfeeling and incredibly shallow by allowing it to happen. I feel sorry for Mr. Coppola for his ignorance in doing something so pointless. He is kinda in the same pathetic league as Micheal Jackson with his sacrifice of the 40 cows. Both acts are pitiful and obscene.

Hey buddy, I'm not sure if you knew this but he didn't do that, he filmed people doing it in the Phillipines, I think it was, as a ritual in their religion. Maybe don't jump to conclusions next time.
