I am saddened by Gloria Foster's death, yet heartened by the distinguished body of work that she left to us all.

I must say that I was disappointed that Ms. Foster was unable to complete her scenes as the Oracle for the Matrix sequels, particularly the third (Revolutions) in which we all missed the opportunity to see her bring the wonderful role to a triumphant conclusion.

She was both an accomplished actor and a beautiful woman; it seems unfortunate that at the height of her powers in the 60's, her homeland was yet unprepared to allow a talented young woman of color to be all that she could be, on stage and screen.
