.......I am Gay and didn't even know Sal was Gay until I read about the murder. How sad. He was a good guy in Pictures.

Sal was a brave man, being outed in Hollywood in the 60's as a gay man. He showed he didn't care by producing plays such as "Fortune in Men's Eyes." His murder must have been very disturbing. I was only 14 at the time and don't remember hearing about it on the news at all. There is doubt that Lionel Ray Williams was the real killer, but Lionel was a complete loser anyway. I saw "Dino" for the first time, and Sal was SO good in it, I'm surprised he didn't have more leading roles. He was also a cool guy...I bought the A&E biography video of his life. What a total waste that he died so young.

I totally agree that it was a complete waste of Sal's life when he was murdered, i know he would have gone on to better things and got back on track.
I am constantly astounded by his natural good looks, have just watched Exodus, he was so ahead of his time with his acting skills.
He had the most beautiful eyes which made him look vulnerable but he clearly was a strong character considering what he took on when he finally 'came out'. Although I wish today that he was still alive, albeit at 66 years old - he was a very dignified human being and seemed to put his personal worries aside and soldier on.
I would have loved to have had the opportunity to be his friend and confidante, to give back to him what he gave to others and to just sit and chat for hours would have made me so content. He had a real presence about him, a father to many I have no doubt.
His sexuality was who he was, I accept that and wouldn't accept him any other way.
He will always be a beautiful human being to me.

Let me be the first to start out saying that SAL MINEO was one of the greatest Actors that there has ever been... Who can ever forget Him in such great films as REBEL WITHOUT A CAUSE, DINO,GIANT,EXODUS,THE GENE KRUPA STORY and many many more....Sad to say that his life was cut short,but he may be gone now,but he is never forgotten ..Sal, you were and still are the best!...............................and we miss you......

you are SO right about Sal. He was very talented. I believe if he had the chance to open his play "P.S. Your Cat is Dead" he would have been able to produce it as a movie at some point. That would have been really cool. What a waste that some loser killed him. But it's cool that people still appreciate him, and he still gets NEW fans every year.
