About Y.P.F.
This frank--and frankly hilarious--Canadian indie certainly lives up to its risqu‚ title, but there's more going on in than just sex in this debut from writer/director Martin Gero. YPF follows one night in the lives of four couples and one threesome. Though most of the actors are unknown south of the Canadian border, each of them gives a heartfelt, genuine performance that should lead to more work in the future. Album Description

We all know the word but how many of us ever thought we would see it on a theater marquis. It seems that the world has really come of age. "Young People F***king" is a comedy about modern love, sexual politics and romance that is unexpected. Five intertwined stories of couples attempting to have sex causes them to run into all kinds of problems.
Abby and Andrew look like the perfect couple but their love life has become boring. They try to spice it up by sharing their sexual fantasies. Matt and Kristen unite under a pact to purge their exes. Jamie has her first date with a respectable British gentleman who has a reputation as a player that she knows nothing about while ex-spouses Mia and Derek have a date for dinner with a planned "dessert" for afterwards and they wonder what has relit the spark between them. Gord and his very hot girlfriend Inez invite Gord's roommate for a threesome. As clothes are shed by the young people so are facades and inhibitions and a lot of playful activities take place.
Now what about the title of the film? I can see why it has been used because it certainly calls attention to the film and it certainly makes us notice it but just let me say that it is merely a title and the film behind it is quite good. It is an adult film, so to speak. However, it is not pornography; the nudity does not let us see sexual organs. It is just a movie about people who have sex (like most of us). It is, by no means, a great movie but it is a lot of fun. Does it live up to the title? Some of what you see could possibly make you blush but that is about it. The characters are real and even though we do not get something to think about from "YPF", we do get a good time.
The film stays within reality and even though some of the things said and done within it may not fit into what many consider "normal" sexual behavior, the stereotypes and situations seem to be very real and the issues dealt with are very real and ones we can all relate to. It is also a very funny film and very dramatic as well. It is razor-sharp and also has a great deal of soul. More than anything else there is no pretense and the script is excellent and the acting is as well. Here is sexual comedy at its best.
